If you do a search either in this section or in the FAQ section I'm almost positive there is a step-by-step process on how to make the CRF engine fit in the 400EX frame...it can be done but you need to do some fabrication I belive...

Yea ur gonna have to get a swingarm made !! I didnt build mine fab-tech atv built it !! Its worth it !! It will walk by the yami
you can mill down a 400ex swingarm and make it work, baldwin was selling jb racing kits, where you just weld in pre fabed mounts and jb also sells the swingarm

If it was me I would just buy the swingarm!! U are gonna have problems with ur air boot from ur front of the carb to the motor !! The carb doesnt line up with the motor like it should so u have to make a hose to fit it and then u dont get as good as throttle response because its not lined up properly!! I have a 400ex frame on mine and the frame rail hasnt been bent down or cut or anything so my hose from the back of the carb to the air box dont hit it !! U can get ur frame fixed where it will not do that but I just made hoses !!

Do you still have to mod the swingarm in the CRF-built frames? What do you have to mill?

East Coast ATV makes a good kit and directions but it's $450. That's the kit I used and it works well. Another guy was right the carb issue is a pain the the ***** and took longer to fit properly than anything else, but I don't notice a responce problem, I was probably just used to the stock 400ex carbs responce (you had to make an appointment and send out a memo to get it). Supposedly there is a radiator hose from a John Deere tractor that works the best but noone has ever put the part number on here so I can try it.
