I'll be at South Fork Dirt Riders on Sunday if anyone wants to go! I've got at least 6 buddies going. It's a play day and the track is supposed to be finished and completely prepped for practice. There's a Harescramble there the same day so the woods are closed, but the track is positively open! Who's Going?

I know a bunch of people were going to race last weekend, how did everyone do?

04-21-2004, 06:06 AM
There was only a harescramble race. I only went to check out the new track. It was better than the last one and didn't wear you out as bad. The only thing is that I wish they had more jumps to get better air off of and some technical sections like casey has.

Macomb, IL has some short track dirt oval racing on the weekends. I haven't been there for a few years but you can check it out. I'm not sure the contact info, but do a google.com search for either 1) Lamoine River Ramblers or 2) Macomb Speedway I looked a couple of weeks ago and it a race schedule was posted, they had a dash for cash class for quads. You all might want to check it out. I went once when I was in college and it was pretty cool. Roostin'Dale, where are you from??? Lewistown? Is that what L-town is? I knew a couple of people from there, if that Lewistown.

went and tried to ride at Chuck Quad track in Pekin and the owners were apparently fighting so you could only ride on the far side of the creek which is pretty deep, so no riding, it looked pretty muddy, but we're riding there tuesday afterwork if anyone feels compelled to come shoot me a PM

04-26-2004, 06:48 AM
Macomb is just a short track and is pretty small. I've been out there to check it out when I lived in Macomb while going to Western Illinois University. I've heard they've done a few changes to it though. If you want good TT and Flat Track racing that pays good you need to go to Burlington, Iowa at Flint Bottom Raceway. There are probably 75-100 quads that show up to race and payout is awesome. I've been once, but it's too far of a haul for me. They now have a full out motocross track that runs the same weekends at the Flat Track. I think this is the websiteFlint Bottom Raceway (http://www.flintbottomraceway.com) If you guys are going to Pekin, IL you should drive on down to Chandlerville, IL to Midwest Motocross Club, Inc. It is the best practice place in the state in my opinion. To get there go on Route 78 to Chandlerville, IL and turn on High St. at the grain bin. Follow that street until you come out on the East side of town on the blacktop. Go about 3-4 miles and you'll see the small sign on your right(If you make it to Oakford you've gone too far. It's Gabby's Road and just follow it until you come to the gate. You can't miss the track because it's huge w/ awesome jumps and TONS of timber riding.

Who rides at Lincoln Trail Motorsports in Casey, Illinois? See my pics of the harescramble on 04/24/04 here (http://z400central.com/invision/index.php?showtopic=24388) .

04-26-2004, 11:48 AM
when do you guys want to set up a date to meet at Midwest Motocross Club, Inc. ? Who likes the trails and who likes the MX track? What do you ride and what is your skill level (from 1 to 10 and 10 being pro)?

I ride MX and Woods both. I would rate myself as an 8 for MX and 7 for Woods. I ride a CRF450 and 250R on the track and a 400ex in the woods.

By the way, this place has something for everyone. The MX track has up to a 75ft. double and even has a kids track and the woods has excellent creek riding to gradual long hills to straight up and down hills. I garautee once you go you will be back! I've been to tons of riding spots in Illinois and this is by far the best place to play ride or practice. They have an annual Harescramble race and Motorcross race there too. I don't know when the MX race is, but the Harescramble is on July 11. Quads usually start at 10 or 11 and run for 1 Hour plus a lap. I've ran it the past two years and these are my only XC races I've ever ran. I got 1st the first year and 2nd the second year. So when is the best day for everyone to meet up and ride?

04-26-2004, 02:32 PM
I ride woods and XC, I'd say I'm a 6 or 7 at woods, not much I can't do and I'm pretty quick, I'm game for riding whenever, I don't ride mx, its not fun to me

If they got as much rain as we did in Peoria, then I'd say taylorville will super muddy, it's all river bottm so it just doesn't shed the water

trost66
04-26-2004, 07:36 PM
what about the mx track. Is there any way you could find a number to call them

parkers30
04-26-2004, 07:42 PM
I'd think the MX track would be alright by then, South Fork Dirt Riders: 1-217-237-4752 thats the number they list to call to make reservations, good luck

04-26-2004, 09:05 PM
that place is a freakin' mudhole and they fib a lot just to get you to come and pay to ride. I've gone when they told me the track was perfect and we ended up making a new track by going around all of the mudholes. They might be better w/ the new management though

roostin_dale
04-26-2004, 09:07 PM
Andy your lucky you didn't go to the last race....it was pooring rain and the track was flooded...they wouldn't give anyone their money back....not my idea of a good MX race, it was awfull

MUD BATH!

04-27-2004, 07:36 PM
Taylorville is a pretty cool track, I've never heard of walnuts

went to Chuck quad track today... it sucked, with whatever dispute they are in they are down to the two motorcross tracks with isn't my thing, they are working on the big track for those that are into that, but it sucked, nowhere to ride,I'm not going back unitl tey get some more woods land back

Sunset Ridge...Pistoles...Walnut is all the same thing in case anyone was wondering. The track is awesome for quads IMO..lots of tabletops and nothing extreme....if you dont want it to be. They do have a race this weekend though......heres there site again for anyone that missed it

coming from your area north of springfield, I would turn off of I-55 at Sherman, IL and go to Petersburg. Go North out of Petersburg on 97 to Oakford. Go West on the Oakford-Chandlerville blacktop for 2-3 miles and turn left on Gabby's Road. Follow the road up to the track. It's $10 to ride all day. It might still be raining up there though right now!

Has anybody rode at the Joliet IL mx track

05-31-2004, 06:48 PM
Anybody racing the Summer Fair Series in mid western Illinois? I raced the first one this past Saturday in Kahoka, MO. They go all over, there are three different series, IL, MO, and IA. I'm racing the IL one. Go to www.kahokamx.com (http://www.kahokamx.com) and click on the fair series link to see the flyer. There is a class for everyone, beleive me. I know Kory Ellerbroek race it last year w/ me and a couple other national riders. It is a blast and it is more family oriented unlike the out for blood district 17 races. And it doesn't wear you out as bad and is easier on you quad too! If you are planning on running, what class are you racing and what do you ride? I'm running the Quad Pro and a Houser/ROLL CRF450.
