Oil changing frequencies

About how many hours is everyone putting on their 450R inbetween oil changes? Or do you go by how many tanks of gas you go through?

With my 416EX, I got used to changing the oil after every 2 hard, long rides...per the recommendation of my engine guy (Robbs Racing ... he's been in Dirt Wheels and 4 Wheel ATV Action twice in the past few months).

Probably not necessary on the 450R, but I am going to do about the same. So, approximately after every 2 complete tankfuls. Also, keep an eye on the oil level window, if the oil is jet black, change it soon.

More frequent oil changes are only good for the motor, just have to do what the budget will allow....:rolleyes:

I change my oil either everytime or every other time I ride. I change the filter every other time.

Thanks for the replys guys. I was planning on changing it for every five gallons of gas. Just wanted to see what everyone else was doing.

I clean the filter after every ride becuase i run with the lid off the air box.

And i change the oil usually after every 2 rides. If i go to the dunes that equals 2 rides. If i go to the MX track, I will usually go twice before changing.

The 450r doenst hold much oil. Menaing it will get dirty and wore out quicker than most quads.

So far I have changed my oil after every ride.

I will lengthen the interval now that my motor is broken in, but I will always change after each Hare Scramble event.

the oil should last longer than a 400ex's b/c it has that external fan or whatever right & keeps the engine cooler? I hate to see people wate precious oil
