I hear a constant ticking in my engine, when I idle it really low it goes away but when throttle is given it immediately comes back, it ticks with the speed of the engine, and knocks once for every combustion stroke.

you just have to set your valves

if it's not your vavle, it is probably your timming chain or your rocker arms are lose.

i had the same problem...i didnt knw about it till the timing chain blew up and the rockers blew right into engine...check ur rockers and the timing chain...and see if ur valves are good and piston

its coming from the top end of the engine, it was at tdc. I even took all of the slack out of the valves just to see if it would go away but it didnt change.

to check the rocker arms just see if there is any play side to side.

You sayed that you had the motor at TDC when you set your vavles but did you have it at TDC on the exaust stroke or the compression stroke. It has to be on the compression stroke. To check just turn the motor until your intake valve go down and up again. Then try to find the T on the flywheel.

If that is not it I have no more ideas.

Yea I made sure it was on the compression stroke, I think its the piston doing it. I might go ahead and drop in a high comp piston and a cam while im at it.

It sounds to me like you didn't adjust your valves on the TDC of the compression stroke. I would double check that.

the valves are fine. the valves are set perfectly. The valves are good. Im starting to think it may be the cam chain because i can hear it slapping around, i think.

take the chain tensiner(sp) out and see if you can put it till it hit the cylinder. if you can the chain is done.

update!!! Turned out it was the cam chain tensioner, IT just lost its spring pressure, Got a new one on there it sounds great!!
