quadchick01
04-07-2004, 08:24 PM
Round four of the ITP QuadCross was back at Glen Helen and not on the National track that everyone had gotten accostumed to. We were going to be racing on the REM track. Alot of the racers were used to the well groomed LACR track with a more motocross style layout (plain and simple more jumps and technical stuff).

The first moto of the pros was split into two seperate races for gate positioning for the main. Number 56 Jeff Spooner grabbed the holeshot in gate A. Followed by number 61 Mike Machado and number 3 Michael Cafro.

By the time the leaders of the pack got out of the back section and were back in sight Macahdo had taken the lead.

quadchick01
04-07-2004, 08:45 PM
Number 5 Danny Ragan followed close behind in second place with Spooner right behind him.

quadchick01
04-07-2004, 08:47 PM
Number 24 Cody Roberts one of the local pros was giving a good effort and hanging in there after being out for several months with a broken leg and then out again with another broken leg. Yes! He did it twice and both times didn't notice it for a couple weeks afterwards. What a trooper!!!!!!!!

04-07-2004, 08:50 PM
Number 08 Theo Lusardi was having mechanical difficulties which took him out of the race early.

quadchick01
04-07-2004, 08:52 PM
Number 21 spun out on the top corner just before you come down the hill.

quadchick01
04-07-2004, 08:54 PM
Number 19 Carmen Cafro walked away ok, after rolling his yamaha in one of the tight corners on the track.

quadchick01
04-07-2004, 08:55 PM
Local pro, Darrel Patton, took the holeshot of the B group of the pros. Showing off how much he has learned by riding with Kory Ellis for the past couple months. Another local pro, number 1 Jeremy Schell, was right behind Patton in the holshot.

quadchick01
04-07-2004, 08:58 PM
Schell wasn't about to let Patton walk away with a win. Schell stayed right on him putting the presure on Patton.

quadchick01
04-07-2004, 09:01 PM
Number 69 Ricky Nickell was behind Schell by about two quad links follwed my number 81 David Linsey

quadchick01
04-07-2004, 09:03 PM
Number 49 Sage Baker drives about 11 hours from Redding CA, for every race, proving how dedicated he is to racing. He was holding on running in 5th place on his yamaha.

quadchick01
04-07-2004, 09:04 PM
Kory Hinsz was running in 9th after having to borrow a Honda 450r from good buddy Larry Hayes.

quadchick01
04-07-2004, 09:09 PM
Patton and Schell jumped the down hill side by side. Schell had gained a little time on Patton and was ready to strike.

quadchick01
04-07-2004, 09:10 PM
Patton was not going to let Schell by that easy. Schell was going to have to work for it.

quadchick01
04-07-2004, 09:12 PM
When Patton and Schell came out of the back section Schell had lost a bit of time on Patton. After talking to Schell after the race he had said that his seat was coming off. However Schell wasn't about to give up.

quadchick01
04-07-2004, 09:13 PM
On the third lap Sage Baker got stuck on a burm. Fortunetly he was far enough ahead of the other riders and no one passed him.

quadchick01
04-07-2004, 09:14 PM
Patton won the race with Schell taking second. It was a close race and they out on a great show for all of the spectators. Looks like Patton needs to give Kory Ellis credit for this win.

quadchick01
04-07-2004, 09:16 PM
Ricky Nickell took 3rd in the race and Sage Baker took 4th, both on Yamaha 450s.

quadchick01
04-07-2004, 09:17 PM
While Darrel wasn't racing he was annoucing the rest of the races in the tower with good buddy Tony Munio, who he also races against, because Glen Helen did not have an announcer for the race.

quadchick01
04-07-2004, 09:18 PM
Schell took the holeshot in the main but after making a mistake in the back section Patton passed him and came into the infield in first place.

quadchick01
04-07-2004, 09:19 PM
Mike Machado was running in third followed by David Linsey in 4th.

quadchick01
04-07-2004, 09:20 PM
Number 56 Jeff Spooner was holding on in 5th place.

quadchick01
04-07-2004, 09:22 PM
Number 3 Michael Cafro and number 5 Danny Ragan battled for 6th place

quadchick01
04-07-2004, 09:23 PM
Nickell and Baker battled back and fourth for the 8th postion.

quadchick01
04-07-2004, 09:24 PM
Number 08 Theo Lusardi was not going to let number 71 Cody Smith make the pass very easily.

quadchick01
04-07-2004, 09:27 PM
Cody Roberts was holding on in the race and we were very proud of him and his recovery.

quadchick01
04-07-2004, 09:29 PM
As Patton and Schell came back around on the second lap Patton was still in front with Schell right behind.

quadchick01
04-07-2004, 09:30 PM
Number 3 Michael Cafro was in 7th place with Ricky Nickell right behind him.

quadchick01
04-07-2004, 09:31 PM
Tony Munio was running in 9th place and was doing great for his first year in the pro class.

quadchick01
04-07-2004, 09:33 PM
As Darrel and Schell came around for lap 3 Schell had taken the lead and was putting distance between him and Patton.

quadchick01
04-07-2004, 09:33 PM
Number 54 August Goebal crashed in the woop section after the sweeping corner. He appeared to be very hurt, hopefully he is ok.

quadchick01
04-07-2004, 09:41 PM
Theo Lusardi spun out at the bottom of the downhill, and was facing the wrong way.

quadchick01
04-07-2004, 09:42 PM
Schell only put distance on Patton as they finished the race and Schell took first place. Great Job Jeremy.

quadchick01
04-07-2004, 09:43 PM
Patton, finishing in second overall, claims Jeremy paid him 20 bucks to let him pass. We all knew that this was just a joke.

quadchick01
04-07-2004, 09:44 PM
David Linsey finished third overall in the pro race. Way to go!!!!!!!!!!

Actually Brittany, It would be nice to see some of the action from the other races. Maybe a few pictures and results from some of the other classes would be really cool.

Also, congrats on your 1st Place finish :macho

When is the next race at glen helen?

quadchick01
05-05-2004, 02:39 PM
The next race i do believe is June 17th. But if you live around here and you want to go to an awesome track LACR is having a race on the 22. LACR is having there own series. Most people didn't even know about it. But the Glen Helen races that were at LACR counted for LACR points. Elsinore is having a race the 15th of this month. I have practice there before and they track was pretty nice. I did hear they had built an all knew track for us to race though so im not quite sure how everything is going to happen. Although I do know Kory Ellis helped them build the first track, so you know it was awesome.
