Birch Creek Motorsports Recreation Park in Danville, VA hosted the 4th round of the GNC National MX Series. Last year, Day two the races were cancelled because of snow, but the sky was clear this year. It was far from perfect conditions with a steady 20 mph wind coming out of the west with temperatures in the low 50's. Everyone kept bundled up for the event!

The Birch Creek Track is spread out over about 20 acres of ground on with part of it on the side of a hill for some elevation changes for the riders to traverse.

Cindi Hart unfortunately broke her collarbone on Friday and possibly factured a rib in a wreck. It was a tough break for her after winning both Women B Motos at the prior race in Georgia.

Mike Walsh also went home after dislocating his elbow after forgetting which jump he was at and over shot it by over thirty feet.:(

I wish the both of them a speedy recovery

Tim Farr's Factory Honda TRX 450R! As everyone has clearly pointed out, Tim hasn't had a great start this year, but this is a whole new racing program with a new quad. I think in time, Tim and Mark Baldwin will get together the winning combination.

Jeremiah Jones closed in on Doug Gust by the end of the race, but was unable to make the pass. Doug Gust went on to win another one for Team Suzuki on his Yoshimura LTZ400. Jeremiah Jones rode hard the entire race and finished an impressive 2nd in Front of Factory Honda Rider Tim Farr.

Jeremiah Jones finished in 3rd overall. Jeremiah Jones was very pleased with how his Yamaha handled on the track and gave thanks to his sponsors: ITP, Image Racing, Sparks, Shift, DG, and many others.

Jones also mentioned that he was disappointed with the track conditions, and I must agree with him because the track wasn't up to what I would expect to see at a National Event.

I am glad that no one was seriously injuried toward the end of the day on sunday because I saw numerous accidents caused by the rough track conditions. My face was completely covered with dust after the race.

Yeah in my opinion the staff at Birch Creek suck at track maintainence (can't spell). In both my motos you couldn't see the entire first lap, and there were lots of crashes because riders couldn't see where all the holes were on the track. Basically if you didn't get out of the hole in the top 4 or 5 you were screwed!

I hope we don't go back next year cause there is no sense in the track being that dusty!

Oh and there wasn't any water to wash with either on Friday. They said that there pump froze the night before, to bad it didn't even get below 32 that night.

Lets just say they need to improve for next year if they are even lucky enough for the GNCs to come back again next year.

i dont blame the staff for the dust. the track was muddy in the mornings and dusty in the afternoons. they would water it but with the winds like they were it didnt take long to dry up the water. i had a buddy who raced early in the day and he said it was perfect. i raced later on and it was dusty. with close to 500 atvs racing you cant possibly expect the track to hold up after that type of abuse. just my 2 cents. as far as the pipe i seen them fixing it. i dont how it broke but it was.

Whats up with the yfz's having all these electrical problems? Almost every race you see one that has electrical problems, and cant be raced because of it! The more i see this, the more happy i am about a kickstart.

I have rode a long time, for many years, and have never seen quads have as many electrical problems as the yfz alone. The only electrical problem ive ever had or seen for that matter was my battery connect just wore out.

Here is a sneak peak of what is too come!!! Take a look at the rider off to the right in the background . He's looking up at the quad and must be thinking to himself " What the !#@$ just happened there" or " I'm glad I didn't pick the starting gate position"

LOL i noticed that, hes probably also wondering if the quad will be on the ground by the time he gets to it, or will it land on him!

i havent seen many quads actually put 100% of that power down, if everyone was on asphault i'd have to agree. I love how farr and the boys are making absolutely no attempt to hide the fact they run a sparks pipe and slap a dg sticker over it, at first they had a special x-cellorator canister that was covering the sparks guts, now they make no attempt LOL. dg performance.

I think all of us know how fast these new 450s are, now imagine taping one out and hitting a 110ft jump...................... NOT THIS KID! It is simply amazing to watch those guys hit that triple. Like ATVriderMX said, you have to see it in person to understand.

And it's not the smoothest take off either. It gets real bad just before you hit that jump.

WMP will automatically download any updates from Microsoft. I have the latest version and for some reason these videos wouldn't play for me. I watched them through Quicktime and it worked fine.

Lou, after looking at the file types associated with my Media Player 9, mp4 media type isn't even a selection yet. If you have Quicktime go to Start-->Programs-->Quicktime-->Quicktime Updater and you'll download the latest QT drivers and it should play then.
