throw it and the spring and plunger away if you want, the aftermarket cams don't use them.

it should but you better get a better opinion. they are talking about it in the 416 popping no start thread.

are you talking about the decompression mechanism on the stock cam or you talking about the self adjusting timing chain tensioner??? you will definately need to keep the tensioner on. however, many but not all of the aftermarket cams don't use the spring or plunger in the head or the stock decompression mechanism pressed onto the stock cam.

I just hear a constant knocking noise in the engine. But it starts up and runs normal. Ive checked the valves a million times and they are fine.

I dont think its the auto decomp unit anymore, If i idle it really low it goes away, when I give it some throttle it kicks back in like it is just switched on. I think it sounds like its coming from the cam chain tensioner but itsnt it spring loaded??

that thread about the 416 popping is mine. But I also had a 12.5 : 1 comp piston in it. but i did need it after all. i'd pull out the tensioner and see if that is it.

i had the spring in my tensioner break and that cause a nasty knock in the motor but the bike ran fine, just sounded like the motor was getting ready to let loose

I misread the thread I think. I thought you were just describing a ticking noise from the motor like it being a noisy drive train..:o
