Look at my sig. and give me your opinion.
I want to install a drop in cam, can i put in the hotcam stg2?
cause i want a drop in cam, i am debating between; stg 2, sparks drop in, or xr400. any other options would be cool. I ride trail and dunes.

The Hot Cams Stage 1 should work well w/o a higher comp. piston. It'll still pull hard on top with the billet gas cap. (J/P)

I know the gas cap bolted on 2 hp on the throttle, at least it feels that way when i look at it while ride:D

TC makes good drop-in cams. Could check out the HRC too.

how much are those ones:and is the stg 1 good for the dunes?
How would the stg2 work with without a piston, and why can the stg1 work without one? Does anyone run a stg2 without a piston?

the stage 1 is recommended up to a 426 but when i do my engine work hopefully soon with a JE 10.8:1 415kit im going with a stage 2

can you use the stg2 with out a piston or no, if not why?

Wouldn't be a little hard to run any motor without a piston??
If not, please let me in on your secret, there's millions to be made!

Stage 2 is suppose to work better with a high comp piston, but you can run a normal piston and it will still pull really well on mid-top. your low end will slightly drop with out the high comp piston.

My bad, i meant high comp!:D:D
how much of a difference will there be between the 2 cams. and eventually i will add a piston.

is there a core charge on the HRC cams ? and are there any other cams besides hotcams that has no core charge ?cause thats just a pain in the ***** ?

hotcam says the stage 2 is for MX and Duneing only. the stage 1 cam is for trail use.
basically, the way i think of it is stage 1 is for lowend torque, which is what you want in woods racing and screwing around the back yard. stage 2 is for the mid range punch and upper R's where you usually ride when duning or riding mx.
hope that helps.

don't know of any other no core charge cams.

I had ran with a stg 2 cam with my stock piston for about 5-6 months before I did piston and 39 FCR carb. I had already done some port n polish work on the head though. I did feel a difference in the mid and a little drop in the low and some gain in the top. I ride mostly dunes, you should be fine with stg 2 in the dunes.

Did you notice anything with the port work, and you used the stg 2 before you got a new piston? was there good gains even though you lost some bottom?

I was definitely pleased with the gains that I had in that set up. Yeah I used the stg. 2 before the piston. Sure you lose some bottom, but I felt that there was some to lose considering the front end still comes up.

Also, since I ride primarily in the dunes and don't need to worry about water; I had made some additional changes to my airbox. I had drilled 3-1" holes on the side of the airbox, and 6-1" holes on the lid, then plugged them with some uni-filter inserts. I no longer run with a lid now, however I am using a outerwear on the lid.

i have been wondering for a long time now what cam to get, stage 1 or stage 2. i am getting an 11:1 piston std bore and one of the two cams, i ride mostly fields, tracks, and like open trails, what should i get?
