03 Z-400

i may be getting an 03 z400 and i just needed to know was this the year of all the frame problems?

yea..it was....the late 03 models were updated though...

Just look at the top shock mounts really close and if there are alot of signs of stress then you might reconsider. If you know how to weld or know someone that does adding a couple gussets is not that big of deal. If there are no signs of paint chipping then I would go ahead and get it and get a frame brace. I have an earlier 03 that was bought in Aug of 02. I bought it used with less than 5 hours on it and immediatly put an Arens frame brace on and I dont have any stress marks on mine as of yet and It has been rode pretty hard since. Aftermarket shocks help out too;)

I can't tell any difference in the 03 and 04 frames. They both will break if you pound on them. If you are going to race it, you better brace it;)

If you are going to race it, you better brace it;) the 04 has a detachable grab bar, thats helped me, i only had to replace a grab bar instead of subframe, theyll only break if you pound on them stock, gusset it and then come to me when it breaks

Hey offroad fury where did you buy your braces at? And how much were they?

I bought mine from an individual that sold his Z400 and never put it on, I bought it for $35:D. I have seen them on ebay and Nacs sells them also for around $60

Well i check Nacs and they didnt show any. dose anyone know where i can find these braces? :(
