Ok everybody first of all I want to know if 86mm is a 405 or 416 then I want to know what cam I should get out of the hotcams stage 1 or 2. I want more mid and topend power without having to constantly pull my motor apart to fix a problem the cam caused and supposedly the stage 2 breaks stock 400 cam chains but I've heard if you buy the CRF450 cam chain it won't break.

any help would be greatly appreciated
thanks in advance

For more mid to top get the stage two. i have had mine in for over a year now and no problems. I think the 86 MM is a 405:confused: Not sure on that one though!!

An 86 mm must be around a 405, because a 416 is 89mm, I believe!:p

no, no, no!

the 86mm is usually referred to as the 406. some companies may call it a 405. the 416 is 87mm. the 440 is 89mm.

you will gain nice top speed with either cam. my friend runs a stage 1 cam and he has just as much top speed as i do with my stage 2. my cam you just have to rev really high for best power ( higher than the stock rev limit for drag racing) in my 406. i say the stage 1 definately has better "all around power" than the stage 2 after having experience with both. if you go with a 416 or bigger, i would probably get the stage 2.

overall, the stage 1 would be better for all around power instead of just high rpm power. if all your worried about is at high rpms, i would definately get the stage 2.

Go with stage two. It's better with motor mods and almost the same price.

which one would you go with if you get a std bore 11:1 piston?

i can tell you my friends bike is just as fast as mine. here are the bikes: friends: stage 1, 10:1 wiseco 406, x-4, K&N filter, crf 450 timing chain, jetted.

my bike: stage 2, 10.8:1 406, x-6, uni, jetted.

if you ride in wide open areas, i would get the stage 2. if you ride in trails alot or prefer to have more low end power, i would say stage 1.
