well testing them out was very..lets say eventful.

i rode up and down the yard to check them out and after the R was warmed up i hit the woods. i go in about 1/4 mile and i start hammering it. i come around a tight corner hard and there is a tree fallen over in my trail:( i nailed the brakes and did my best to duck ...luckily i didnt get my head taken off:grr:

"Survey says---handybars and a front bumper!!!"

Looks sweet with the Elka's and Hipers! What are your impressions now that it's sitting a little lower with the new shocks?

Pappy

bumper is on order!

waitin for Burgard to get a stem in production!

so far so good. i really need to get them dialed in but they are typical elka:cool: bolt on and hammer:p ill put my personal adjustments on them and try to get in a few hours this week and see what i think.

one thing i did notice is that my YFZ has much more travel then the TRX in the rear shock. im geussing its in the linkage design.

the front shocks are LONG!!! man you can really tell when you take the shocks off how much longer they are then 400ex shocks!!

ive noticed the fronts are a bit better then the yfz but the rears feel about teh same. since each come with adjustable front brake levers a simple adjustment on the yfz and she will be throwin ya *** over tea kettle just like the hundy:devil:

The rear works good with the linkage don't it Puppy! Get some
3-2 fronts, you can get just the centers and change them, works really good.

Pappy

How does the handling compare between the stock shocks (after you took off the pre load etc) and your new elkas?

Some people are saying the stock shocks are pretty good, and maybe with revaluing/spring for the individual rider – could be close to after market feel.

Was your opinion, were do the elkas make their biggest improvement?

Pappy
04-07-2004, 05:51 PM
the ssd really helps this quad out and the elka shocks just preform pretty darn well. i think with a rebuild & respring that the stock shocks will be fine for the average rider or even up to a B class racer. the rear shock is whats need more then the fronts along with the redesigned linkage. its no secret that the rear shock on the trx and 400ex arent at the optimal angle( you'd have to ask someone else about whats optimal..lmao)
