Hey guys, I need a damper, and was wanting some input on it. I'm looking at under $200 and not a PEP since my buddy has one, and we always buy different things to try them out. Does anyone have a Graydon?

The graydon, denton, muscle are all the same dampner just different names. They do help overstock but after the last race I am thinking about the GPR dampner now.

They work great and are worth the money. I'd like to go with silverfox and get a GPR but holy hell are they costly...:eek2: :eek2:

Silverfox,

i didn't think it was that bad, no damper. I just thought it might help out. Are you going to come to the next MO race? If not you should at least make the Racers for Research race. It helps a good cause, and we get on the local tv news. Anyways, being as I have no damper which do you all sugest? Silverfox could you pm me with prices of those that you can get?

Thanks

Todd

Trust me, you wil like it. Sometimes they are a pain in the behind to mount because you gotta get it just right so it dont bind up on ya. YOu'll see what i mean.

Agreed. I have the PEP (yes the latest generation, not the old one) and it is a POS! I have it on the highest setting and it's still not enough dampening. Spend your money elsewhere...

And if you ever want to get an oversized oil tank, forget it w the PEP. It practically touches the stocker the way it mounts. I can't imagine getting anything bigger in there....

Does anybody know where I can get a Denton stabilizer? C&D said it will be a month before they can get them. Anybody know a company that has any in stock? I'm looking for the rebuilable one also.

YOu'll see what i mean. tRight now, Troy isnt sureif he likes his or not.... he could tell the difference but it was WAY too stiff a setting I guess(all the way I think:o ) and it tired him out in his race his hands were killin him:( So he is going to just play with settings ans see what feels best for him...

I will have 4 of the 400ex rebuildable ones in stock on Friday or Monday.

beats the heck out of me! do they use 3 and then set them to the lightest settig and then when the steering gets jarred they kick in in unison. Just speculating here.
The GPR are better in that respect. they are lighter to turn when not being jarred but kick in faster when jarred. its all in the valving i guess like stock shocks oppose to Elka's.

I have a PEP and think it works great. I also like that it is tucked out of the way. first time you hit the frontend with a Denton you will need to replace it. just my .02 cents

im with you QJ. that is a little rich for my blood as well. The Denton is fine for me and beats no damper at all. got mine for $120 (rebuildable one) so that was pretty good.

04-06-2004, 12:09 PM
how do you know if its rebuildable or not? i bought mine for like 435 shipped or close to that & the kid said it was non rebuildable but it has a silver body...I have heard these are the rebuildable ones though

so all of you have said that pep dampeners are junk but for any other type of dampener i woulld need to relocate my rezzies , wich would normally be no big deal but i have no where else to put mine b/c i have the short regular works lines, and tinner airscoops, so where i have them now is the only place i can put em,,,, here is a pic maybe someone can direct me;)

im not gonna really ask what a dampner is i kinda know.. but whats the point? really help?

Tommy 17
04-06-2004, 08:37 PM
its almost like a shock on the handle bars... it slows down the speed and puts resistance when u turn the handle bars from side to side... it stops the bars from gettin ripped out of ur hands... or goin into a head shake when u get into the ruff stuff... its also won't jar the bars outta ur hand if u hit a root, stump, etc...

i'll be buyin one soon as i sell my bow:devil:

i was lucky enough to find a used gpr and i think it works pretty good , but i was running without a dampner before that so i don't really have anything to compare it to, but if i had to use a denton or something i'd have the same problem with the rezzies and scoops and everything in the way.

Can you mount the rezzies on the frame tubes that go down near the oil tank?

The 400ex and 250r are the same dampner
The 300ex I am told takes different brackets

I am still waiting on the ones from Denton I might have those towards the end of april. The ones that I have comming now are speedline (muscle) dampner they will be $145 and the Denton ones are $150 and yes they are the same thing just a different name.
