Hello i have a TRX450r and the 450's gearing is so tall. So i was thinking with going with a 13 tooth sprocket. I just was wondering if that helped at all. Oh and another thing the front end, omg is that tough to keep down. I need to keep that front end down some how, how long of a swing arm do you think i should get for it if, i was thinking +2. Is there anything else i could do to keep the front end down i heard from someone, to soften up the rear shock some and it would help keep the front end down.

I will especially need to get a swing arm when i get the 450r piped, i was thinking about going with the LRD racing exhaust.

Let me guess, "to keep the front end down"

Well that was a lot of help lol.

Oh and if i get a 13 tooth sprocket where in the heck do i buy it at, i have looked around for a 13 tooth sprocket for a 450r and no one seems to have one?

Stock front tooth is 14, goign down to a 13 would create more low-end which is what you dont want. The 450r uses the same sprockets as the crf450.

The CRF450R uses the same front sprocket.

What do you mean thats not what i want? Thats exactly what i want. Its geared so freaking tall.

Well if you cant keep the front end down with the stock gearing then your gonna have an even harder time keeping it down with lower gearing.

you couls go smaller on the rear , you would gain on the top and loose acceration if you make the front smaller you will gain low end which you don't want

but it wont lug the engine like it does with the tall gears. Im gonna soften the back shock which helps right? I might just get a longer swingarm to.

+1 swingarm would do it thats what they did to the 450r that won the baja 1000

I ride on the sand and i like doing tree shots and stuff like that and going through trails and going up hills and also dragging. So im gonna need a 13t i will just look in to getting a longer swingarm. I'm also gonna pipe it here pretty soon.

Whats wrong with a +2. LSR is selling one for $615 is there anywhere i could get one cheaper or anyway.

also you could try leaning more forward, lol. i dont have a problem with keeping the front end down. But then again, i rode an ex for a year. Now thats hard to keep down. Keep the stock gearing. I think you would be happier.

I hated the gearing on mine when I got it and said I was going down a tooth in the front, but I grew to like it and not shifting in the woods as much makes ya faster in my opinion

Same here, I run 18 razr mx'ers on the track, and I don't want to be switching back and forth sprockets. So I just learned to adapt.

Those tucker pro swingarms are nice. Reasonable pricing and good quality. I've seen a handlful of them on raptors etc.

Hey Manny, I went up to 40 teeth in the rear and down to 13 teeth up front. This will not help with the light front end, but it definately brings the R alive. Spent the day at Silver Lake and haven't been beatin yet....at anything.

Well what does the R have in back stock. I've never checked the back.

Stock in rear is 38 teeth, and the bolt pattern is the same as either the 250r or 400ex. God I love this quad!

13T up front is all I did, and I'm thrilled with results. Can idle in 1st gear without it stalling, and dont need to feather clutch as much when trail riding in tight woods in 1st.

I agree, my 416EX was harder to keep the nose down than with my 450R...and my 416 had a 16T front!

Just lean over the front a bit, but hang on as the low end pull is fierce!

BTW,
the loss of top speed is a mute point. The 450R does around 76MPH top speed with 14T (stock) front, and with the 13T front, I was DEAD even (top speed) with my friends DS650 Baja....which has around a 72MPH top speed.

Thank you all for the information. I just ordered a 13t sprocket from Denniskirk. Now all i need to do is get a +2 swingarm for it now. I just need to find the cheapest price or the best deal on it. So far lonestar has one for $575 is there anyone other swingarms for the 450r right now.
