how do i get a broken key out of a lock?

Yes i just got my key broke off in my look for the garage and was wondering how to get it out. I tryed alot of thing like paper clips,small srew drives,needel noise's and ect i just can't get it out.

I'm curious how to get a key out too, We just broke one off in a van door.

Sometimes you can remove the broken key from the lock with a pick set. I've got a pick set from Mac Tools that has a straight, 90*, hook, and offset pick in the set and they've worked for me in the past. I bought the set for $30 which is cheaper than the locksmith.

If it's sticking out a tiny bit and you can't grab it with your hand try needle nose pliers. If not, the super glue trick sounds like a good idea.

Did the key break after turning it? You'd need to turn it back first, which shouldn't be too hard with the broken part of the key engaging the tumblers.

Yea it is turned and its for a door to get into your house. I took it off and my dad found a new lock setup so we put it back on. SO i am out of that mess!

my dad is a locksmith too lol. but in california your not aloud to have a pickset unless your licesenced. its illegal
