ok, i understand that running a bigger pilot help out on start-ups, especially cold starts. And, most seem to agree that the 42 is the best way to go. But, what about when summer rolls around. Is the 42 going to be too big? Or, does it still work out ok. I just ordered a 42 for my ride. To be on the safe side (so i don't have to play the waiting game later) i also ordered a 40. I will probably be heading down to Texas soon. And most people know how friggin' hot it gets there. 42 pilot and Texas heat...is this ok?

On my quad, I have noticed that the 42 increased throttle response too, so I think you can leave it alone (but I won't be sure until summer rolls around). I also think that many of the people here who use a 42 have removed the choke, so they get more air into the carb, & they need more help starting the quad.

I had the same question and I went with a 40 just in case. Honda of Troy said with my mods thats what I should go with.
