Take the baffel out put a 2" hole in the back of the airbox lid and a 155 main jet. This will help out alot!

Take the air box lid right off, rejet to 170-175, and take out the exhaust core, makes a whole new machine. May have to adjust jet size for altitude, I'm around 2500ft, so adjust from there.

Forgot, also raise the needle 2-3 nothces.

Im from oregon also, and have a 450r.

I guess its not necessarily the exhaust core, just the spark arrestor plug, but on mine (in Canada) it is only held in with three small allen screws. Maybe they aren't removable in the Staes, I'm not sure!!
