CANT get preload ring off!

Ive been trying for the past 2hrs to unscrew the preload ring on my 400ex rear shock.

I have tried running it under hot water, rubber grips, vice grips, spanner wrench, and hammer and flathed screw driver. I am out of WD-40. Any Ideas?

try tightening it a few turns, then clean the threads.

I finally got it off. I ended using a bigger hammer and a bigger screwdriver, and giving it a couple hard whacks. Thanks anyway Pappy.
