I got my hotcam stage 2 today and decided to install it. Pretty easy for the most part. I can work on a 250R with my eyes closed but I had no idea what I was in for with this. The only real tips I would have is be sure and take the cam tensioner lose from the back of the jug and when you go to take out the decompression mechanism use the plunger to dig out the spring! I also took a picture of the stock cam installed with my digital camera to make sure the new one was in the correct spot. I got to ride it down the road and I did notice a drop on the bottom end. It was still a little lean so I didnt ride it much. I have a 162 main in it right now and it cackles under deceleration so I will bump it to a 165. I went with the stage 2 becouse I am getting a 426 11-1 piston setup with in the next couple of weeks.

seven how much of a bottom end drop did you notice? i am about to install a stage 2 on my bike with an 11:1 std bore piston so i am kind of nervous about the bottom end loss. I love my bottom end. lol

I am not totally sure yet but I have a standard 400 piston in it. I only got to ride it down the road and back. It wasnt a huge loss but you could tell there wasnt as much just going down the road. They recomend you running a higher compression piston with the stage 2 for this reason. I go to ride quadjunkies 400 with the stage 2 and a 426 kit and it was great.

I have a 440. I recently installed a hotcam stage II. I love it!!! The bottom end had a little difference, almost not even enough to mention. However, the top end came alive!!! My next item needs to be a big gun cdi box. I hit the rev limiter before it even dreams of stopping!

the popping was probably just due to a lean condition on the pilot jet/fuel skrew. a 162 is plenty big. i only run a 160 with my 406 10.8:1, stage 2, sparks exhuast, uni, etc.

How many turns out are you on your air screw?

Also I have no air box lid with a K&N filter and a 40 pilot.

I just put a 440 kit in mine and a stage 2 cam. I havn't totally reved it up yet, but I am extremely happy with the wheelie factor. Ican just kiss the throttle while I am riding down the trail and the ront end will come right up and ver the obsticle.

i asssume your running a stock carb? if so, it has a fuel skrew but no air skrew. i would try 2.5 or 3 turns out if it is still popping.
