View Full Version : Clutch Adjustment

I just put a new lever/perch on my clutch. Now, when I pull the clutch in, and kick it down into first, the bike jumps forward about 1/2 inch. I have correct play in the lever, do I need to adjust it down under the pipe heat shield, or is it supposed to do this. I don't remember if it did it or not before I changed it out.
Thanks.
I had the same problem with my when i changed my clutch lever..
The aftermarket lever didn't have quite enough "throw" to completely disengage the clutch..
I just set mine to slightly less slack than what's recomended in the book.. Then I took it out and warmed it up good, and made sure that there was still some freeplay in the clutch cable..
That's one of the problems with ez-pull type clutches.. you gain leverage, which makes the clutch easier to pull in _but_ you loose throw on the cable, making adjustment that much more critical..
