What should the ring gap be in my 440 sleeve? I heard the wiesco 89 mm piston is not a true 11:1. Do any of you have one?

i actually think the compression on the wiseco's 440's is even less than 10:1. you need to let the engine builder set the ring gap. the instructions should have came with the piston.

I just built a 440 with wiseco piston 11:1. The compression would have ended up about 9.4:1 with the stock gaskets. I ended up running without a base gasket and a .027" head gasket from cometic. I ended up with 10.5:1 true compression. So far I am very happy with the gains. I also paired the 440 with a stage two cam from hotcam.

So what comp piston does the 440ex wiseco kit come with is it not the 11:1 comp piston? What else should be bought with the 440 kit?

yeah, the wiseco 440 11:1 piston is only around 19.4:1 or 19.6:1 with the factory gaskets, i can't remember. you can remove the base gasket and use thinner head gaskets to gain some of the compression back or you can buy a piston specifically cut for 400ex's or you can shave the cylinder to raise your compression. if your doing the work, get a service manual. also, you should be running a cam for the best gains.
