View Full Version : Silverlake, HMF?
I'm not sure if this is the right forum or not for this but, has anyone run an HMF pipe at silverlake and had any problems? I've been there a couple times and know enough to take it easy at the gate. I like the HMF pipe but I'm wondering will it pass if I take it easy at the gate and run the quiet core? It sure would suck to get up there and have to install the stock pipe.....

i own a 400ex w/a big gun quiet series and its not all that quiet, i frequent the dunes every year(silver lake) and ive never had a problem. if you rap it out all the way through the parking lot and the gate entrance then i could see having a problem. but as long as you are respectful in the parking area you shouldnt have a problem. make sure you have a spark arrestor in though.

thats why i havent been to SL inawhile...theres no way my TC MX pipe would pass
I had a TC on a 400ex acouple years ago and took it off and put the stock exhaust back on for the trip. It really sucked, but what really pissed me off was when I saw a guy running a TC with the disc sparky and he was in the dunes so he got in. I think part of it is who's at the gate when you go in. But you never know if they're going to be real sticklers or not. When you drive 9hrs it's best to come prepared.

Like everyone else has said, as long as you aren't being a jerk in the parking lot or in line, then you'll be fine. All they check for is your spark arrestor. I had a white bros e series last time I was there with 12 discs, no quiet insert. They only looked to see that I had a spark arrestor. Just be calm and stay in the low RPM on your way to the inspection booth. The thing they do yell about is when you try to get in without goggles or gloves. But, there can and will be that one new guy that has to have his/her power trip, so if you are driving a long distance, I'd recommend bringing a stock muffler with you just in case. It would suck to drive a long distance only to not get let in because of a loud muffler. Anyways, just be nice and calm and you shouldn't have a problem.

they started to crack down at SL but on busy weekends and Holidays only. Been going there for 4 years. Last year a friend of mine was checked every time they use a db tester and make you hit the throtle so if its load they will know, so slow riding wont cut it. Must have a spark arester they will stick a rod down your pipe to check that. If you pass they will put a wrist band on your handle bars so you wont have to be checked again for that day only. just an FYI
good luck
