Chris
Borich Interview: 2009 GNCC Pro ATV Racing
- Continued
|
Chris
Borich may be a woods racer, but he
isn't afraid of a little motocross,
and he is actually a really comfortable
on the MX track, which worked to his
advantage at the WORCS Series. |
ATVRiders.com:
After WORCS you headed down to California to
meet with some of your sponsors. How did that
go?
Chris
Borich: It went really well.
I went down there and met with Fox, Precision,
Yoshimura and Suzuki. I had a good time and
it was really good to meet a lot of the people
who are supporting me.
ATVRiders.com:
Speaking of Suzuki, your contract is up for
renewal for 2010. Will you be on yellow again
next season or is that finalized yet?
Chris
Borich: I’ll find out
in another week or two for sure, but so far
it’s looking good. We’ve really
spent a lot of time on the Rockstar / Yoshimura
/ Suzuki LTR450R and have it set up really
good, plus I like the LTR and I really don’t
want to be on anything but Suzuki.
ATVRiders.com:
Are you pretty excited for the GNCC to start
back up?
Chris
Borich: Yeah, I’m really
pumped for it. I’ve been training and
doing a lot of local races in between. I’ve
won everything I’ve done since the summer
break so I’m feeling confident going
to Unadilla.
ATVRiders.com:
You’ve basically shadowed Bill Ballance
for you entire Pro ATV GNCC racing career
and this year you are finally in a position
to take the championship. It must feel pretty
good to be out front.
Chris
Borich: It does feel good
to be out front, but I knew Bill was unfortunately
facing some challenges coming into the season
with his injuries and being on a new quad.
I don’t know how hard he has been training
over the off season, but he is still a tough
contender no matter what.

Chris
Borich may have racked up 6 out of 9
Pro ATV Class wins this year in the
GNCC Series this year, but they didn't
come easy or without serious competition
for the win till the checkered flag
by multiple racers. Adam McGill &
Borich battled wheel to wheel to the
Mountain Ridge finish line, and Borich
passed Bill Ballance on the final uphill
to claim the Pro Class win at SnowShoe,
and amazingly Pro-Am ATV Racer, Brian
Wolf, won the overall with adjusted
time, so there remains plenty of competition
among the GNCC ATV Racers |
ATVRiders.com:
It seems there is a lot of good competition
out there this year, is it tougher than in
previous years?
Chris
Borich: The competition is
definitely tougher. Everyone is really on
their game this year. Adam McGill, Taylor
Kiser, Chris Bithell, Brandon Sommers; all
of those guys and more are capable of taking
the win.
ATVRiders.com:
So what is your strategy for the final few
rounds?
Chris
Borich: I’m just taking
it one race at a time and trying to stay focused.
I’m hoping that I can wrap up the championship
in the next two rounds and then just go out
there and have some fun.
|
|
Chris
Borich is also pretty good on a Suzuki
LT90 as he didn't hesitate to hit a
big double on his 90, and he has several
for mini ATV races with his friends |
ATVRiders.com::
Speaking of fun, do you have any hobbies besides
riding?
Chris
Borich: There’s lots
of stuff I like to do; racing RC cars, paint
ball, boating. My interests are always changing.
|
Chris
Borich is on the gas in 2009, and I
wish him the best with his quest for
the GNCC Pro ATV Championship |
ATVRiders.com:
What is your outlook on next season?
Chris
Borich: Honestly, I have no
clue yet. I’m just taking it race by race
right now and trying to stay focused so I can
give Rockstar / Yoshimura / Suzuki the GNCC
Championship.
ATVRiders.com:
Chris, thank you for taking the time to talk
with us today. We wish you the best of luck
at Unadilla!
Chris
Borich: Thank you!
