Chad Wienen Championship Interview
3x Pro Motocross Champion Chad Wienen

Buchanan, MI (8/5/2014) - Chad Wienen recently wrapped up his third consecutive Pro ATV Motocross Championship aboard his Yamaha YFZ450R. Although their is still one round remaining in the 2014 Mtn Dew ATV Motocross National Championship Racing Series, Chad Wienen's earned his sixth win of the nine round series at Red Bud Motocross, only finishing off the top of the podium twice this whole season with two second place finishes.

Chad Wienen wrapped up the 2014 ATV Pro Motocross Championship in true fashion by winning both Pro Motos aboard his Wienen Motorsports / Yamaha YFZ450R as well as grabbing the holeshot in Moto 2.

We had a chance to interview Chad Wienen after his big win at Red Bud MX earning him the Championship with many friends and family in attendance.

Chad Wienen wrapped up his third consecutive Pro ATV Motocross Championship a round early at Red Bud Motocross in Michigan

ATVriders.com: Here with the three-time Pro ATV Motocross Champion, Chad Wienen. You were able to wrap up the championship out here a round early at Red Bud, and it appears your entire family and plenty of friends showed up as well.
Chad Wienen: It’s huge. It’s great. I came into this weekend doing what I’ve been doing, and it’s so hard to do that because you’ve got the points lead and anything can happen. We went out there and did it though, and to have the friends and family and fans here, it’s just great. The biggest thing was just getting the holeshot that second moto and I was like ‘oh yeah we’re going to go for a ride now, and it was a dream ride to finish at Red Bud and finish up this championship. I’m just stoked, it hasn’t quite settled in and I’m just enjoying the moment.

ATVriders.com: That was the thing, you technically didn’t need to win, you could have played it safe and still clinched the championship, but here you are going 1-1 for the overall win.
Chad Wienen: You know, that’s sportsmanship, not laying down at the end and taking the easy road. I’m out here to perform and give everyone a show and that’s just one of my deals, I have a strong urge to win, and I just wanted to come out and put a show on for everyone.

Chad Wienen won Mtn Dew ATV Motocross Round 8 winning the 2014 Pro ATV Motocross Championship & $5,000!

ATVriders.com: Now this is your third straight championship, and they all have been with Yamaha. How big of a deal is this for you to get three in a row? Because you’ve worked so and came so close for years, and it never came together for you
Chad Wienen: Yeah I’m all about paying your dues and they have a plan for you. I had to be challenged and this all dates back to 2011, I was winning the championship, and I broke my back.  I had to make a decision and keep progressing with this or hang up my boots. I was just thinking this is going to make me stronger, and I won my first championship in 2012 and now here we are sitting with three under our belt. You got Chris Borich with five, and I want to try and keep up with his marks and it’s always a challenge between us. I got to spend a Winter with him, and you just set your goals to the side and go for it.

ATVriders.com: Today, like you said earlier, the second moto you actually grabbed the holeshot and all of your family was like “I wish Chad would get the holeshot” because that’s not something you normally do.
Chad Wienen: Yeah you know you just come out of that gate and my gate was prepped super awesome and the MAXXIS tires hooked up great and the Malaska engine just ripped out of the holeshot. You look beside you and you don’t see anyone beside you and you just keep twisting that thing and it’s an awesome feeling coming around the first corner in first place and having one of those rides where you ride from gate-drop to finish, it’s awesome.
