2014 Polaris Sportsman ACE

2014 Polaris Sportsman ACE Review
::Continued::

The automatic CVT transmission features park, natural, reverse, and high and low gears. We found the top speed in low to be 25 mph and the top speed in high is 50 mph. Most of the time we found ourselves driving in high gear down the high speed rocky trails however, we did take advantage of low gear as well a the on-demand 4WD we when encountered tricky rock climbs.

Drivers that have never driven in a SxS or an ATV will feel at home behind the wheel of the 2014 Polaris Sportsman ACE. With 32 horsepower, it is plenty for beginners & it is just enough to keep experienced riders happy

The 2014 Polaris Sportsman ACE features a similar rear end as the Polaris RZR 570 Trail

To help soak up the rough terrain, Polaris adopted a couple suspension components from existing Polaris off-road vehicles including the Polaris Sportsman ATV and the Polaris RZR 570.

“The Polaris Sportsman ACE features the proven McPherson independent front suspension that you see on the [Polaris] Sportsman and the [Polaris] RZR 570 rear end with some modifications for the weight of the vehicle and the trail capability of it,” explained Polaris’ Justin Burke

The suspension did a nice job of absorbing the rocky trails and off small jumps at Hidden Falls Adventure Park. The front McPherson suspension features 8.2" of travel and the independent rear suspension features 9.5” of travel.

With its 10.25” inches of ground clearance and low center of gravity, the Polaris Sportsman ACE works very well while climbing. We had a chance to really test out the climbing abilities of the Sportsman ACE when we found a small waterfall while driving. To our surprise, it was easier to climb up the waterfall in the Polaris Sportsman ACE than it was on the Polaris Sportsman WV850 with the non-pneumatic tires! The sit in chassis design not only gives you the confidence while driving, but it actually functions well with its low center of gravity.

We were surprised how well the Polaris Sportsman ACE climbed. With its low center of gravity & over 10 inches of ground clearance, make it easy to climb over obstacles, and the ACE provides great fender protections to keep the mud & water off you
