2014 Polaris RZR XP 4 1000

2014 Polaris RZR XP 4 1000 Long Term Review
::Continued::

The SxS’s handling is equally as impressive as its increased power. With the electronic power steering and four-wheel drive feature, we have been able to maneuver the SxS over a wide range of terrain with ease.  It has climbed almost everything we have put under its wheels including the massive Imperial Sand Dunes of Glamis, CA and many of the technical rock climbs found in Utah.

Maxxis Big Horn Tires
The Maxxis Big Horn 2.0 Tires work great on the Polaris RZR XP 4 1000 as we never experienced any flats with a tough 6 ply rating

We have always been impressed with the Maxxis Big Horn tires and we are pleased that Polaris decided to continue to provide them on this model as well.  The 6 ply tires are super puncture resistant and never failed us on any of our adventures.  The traction they provide is incomparable and we still have plenty of tread left on them after all we have put the vehicle through.

Polaris RZR XP 1000
The Maxxis Big Horn tire provided plenty of traction even in the sand

The spacious Polaris RZR cargo box that locks into the rear of the vehicle have came in handy on various occasions and can easily be removed for shorter trips, or to haul other things around in the bed.  The latches are durable and have held up to repeated use.

The only warning we have for the Polaris RZR XP 4 1000 owners is that CVT drive belt takes some time to break in off the showroom floor, so you need to spend several hours of driving the RZR without pushing it to its limits to season the belt because if you push it too its limits right away, you will suffer an early belt failure, and we have changed a handful over the past six months before we learned about the break-in-time the hard way, but it is a minor set-back in the big picture of the SxS’s overall low maintenance requirements.

Polaris RZR XP 4 Clutch Cover
The CVT belt can be easily accessed in the drivers side rear fender. Once the cover is removed a new belt can bet installed in less than 15 minutes.

One thing we found out from breaking several belts is that the CVT belt cover is easy to access and remove under the rear drivers side fender, and you can easily change out a belt within 15 minutes with minimum tools, and we highly recommend that you always keep a spare belt and tools in the glove box for any long rides in any SxS vehicle since this is the most common failure, and it is an easy fix.

Sand Hollow State Park
The 2014 Polaris RZR XP 4 1000 is a great all around SxS that you can joy with the whole family

Once again, Polaris has provided another great product that you and your family and friends can use to experience countless hours of fun and off-road excitement. The performance and capabilities of the 2014 Polaris XP4 1000 is impressive and we are confident that any consumer would agree.
