The Kawasaki Teryx4 749cc Engine |
Powered by a liquid cooled 749cc four-stroke,
v-twin engine, the Teryx4 offered up plenty
of power, even with four adults in the vehicle.
Kawasaki took into consideration that the larger
size of the four-seater vehicle would need a
higher power to weight ratio to make it equal
to the two-seater model, so the Teryx4 750 4x4
was given an extra 17% more power to compensate.
The new centrifugal force clutch also allowed
the power to get to the ground and provided
plenty of torque and good throttle response.
The Teryx 4 750 4x4 took even the toughest hill
climbs with ease and never once did we feel
like we needed more power.

The
Kawasaki Teryx4 750 engine provides plenty
of power to haul around a full load of
adult passengers with ease & the tight
turning radius of the Teryx4 really came
in handy on the wooded trails |
|
The Kawasaki Teryx4 comes with 2wd, 4wd
& Diff Lock, and they are easily engaged
with a turn of the dash knob |
While we like to test out the top speed of most
machines, we were only able to get the Teryx 4
750 4x4 up to about 40 mph, but that was not due
to a lack of power, but due to the terrain. We
weren’t too worried about it, however, as
we were already impressed with the display of
power we had already seen from this machine. The
Teryx 4 750 4x4 offers low and hi gear plus on
the fly 4wd and differential lock. Low gear has
a max speed of about 30 mph, but you must be going
at a max of 10 mph in order to engage the 4WD.
The machine handles well at both low and hi speeds,
but we did notice that it has a tendency to push
in the corners at higher speeds due to its increased
weight, which is something to take into consideration
when out riding.
In order to keep all the power this machine
provides in check, the Teryx 4 750 4x4 is equipped
with engine braking, which works well at slowing
down Teryx4 on downhill descents in low gear,
but with a full load of passengers you will
still need to stay on the foot brake.
Kawasaki took their time with the Teryx four-seaters
and gave it some really great features including
a newly designed frame, which is very rigid,
reduces flex, and increases the durability of
the machine. We really liked the cargo bed of
the Teryx4, which offers plenty of room for
a large cooler or gear bag, and provides tie
downs to keep your cargo secure.

The
Kawasaki Teryx4 750 has a large 250lb
capacity cargo box along with 4 tie-down
anchors for securing your load |
One thing we did notice, that we hope Kawasaki
improves upon in future models is the front
fenders. The front fenders are a little too
narrow for the machine and in muddy conditions
you, and your passengers, will get sprayed with
mud from the front tires sticking out beyond
the fenders. While Kawasaki offers an extended
fender kit on the Teryx4 EPS LE model, they
are still a bit too small to be fully effective.
Kawasaki does offer accessories mud fenders,
which would correct the issue.

|
The
Kawasaki Teryx4 doors provide excellent
protection elements along the trail, but
the Maxxis Big Horn tires stick out beyond
the front fenders, which results in mud
& water to be sprayed up over the
front of the Teryx4 & onto the occupants,
but Kawasaki does offer extended fenders
as an accessory to solve this issue (above
