Also receiving an update were the front brakes by using a larger dual hydraulic disk brakes. The 2014 Honda Rancher 420 does not stop on a dime, but the brakes do a nice job of slowing the machine down as they work flawlessly for recreational riding or on the farm or job site.

We had a chance to get familiar with the new 2014 Honda Rancher 420 at the Honda Research and Development center in Liberty, Ohio. As part of their Research and Development department they have access the neighboring Transportation Research Center that has plenty of Midwest trails to test their new machines.

We put the 2014 Honda Rancher through its paces throughout our long-term review and we were surprised how well it handled when were challenged with some tricky obstacles along the trail. On several occasions we had to climb over trees that have fallen across the trail and the Honda Rancher 420 climbed over each with no problem thanks to its 4-wheel-drive.
