2014 Can-Am Maverick 1000 X xc SxS / UTV Review

2014 Can-Am Maverick 1000R MAX X RS Review
Four Seat Can-Am SxS with Power Steering

Albany, New York (10/28/2013) - Can-Am first introduced the 2014 Can-Am Maverick 1000 MAX four Seat SxS / UTV as sort of a surprise when they launched the Can-Am Maverick 1000R in the fall of 2012. Since its public online debut, it would be over a year later until the media would be able to get behind the wheel of the four-seat version of the Can-Am Maverick 1000R at the 2014 Can-Am Model Intro just outside Albany, New York. There, we would not only get to test drive the 2014 Can-Am Maverick 1000 MAX X RS, but also many other new models including the Can-Am Maverick 1000 X xc and the Can-Am Outlander 500 Utility ATV.

The 2014 Can-Am Maverick MAX 1000R X rs SxS features dynamic power steering (DPS) along with many other premium features including 12 inch aluminum beadlock wheels, and X rs package trim

The 2014 Can-Am Maverick 1000 MAX shares many of the same great characteristics as the standard two-seat Can-Am Maverick 1000 SxS including the same hard hitting 101 horsepower V-Twin ROTAX engine, aggressive sport handling, sharp looks, and many ergonomic features that make the Can-Am Maverick SxS / UTV line so popular.

The four seat Can-Am Maverick MAX 1000R X rs has a 29.5" longer wheel base than the two seat Can-Am Maverick

Most notable on the 2014 Can-Am Maverick 1000 MAX is the longer wheelbase and extra seats. The rear seats feature the same comfortable bucket design as the front seats, but are raised 3.5 inches for better visibility. There are grip handles located on either side of the center console for each rear passenger in addition to a grab bar near the roll cage on either side of the machine.

We were pretty impressed with the amount of legroom while seated in the rear. The 2014 Can-Am Maverick 1000R MAX features 6.4 in. (16.3cm) more legroom than other four-seat SxS / UTV Models in its class.

The rear seats features hand holds located towards the center of the machine & on the rollcage. There is also a large amount of legroom for a comfortable ride

As you can imagine with the additional seating, Can-Am had to lengthen the wheelbase. The 2014 Can-Am Maverick 1000R MAX features a 29.5-inch (75cm) longer wheelbase over the standard two-seat Can-Am Maverick 1000 SxS / UTV. The longer wheelbase not only allows room for two more passengers, but it also improves the machines handling over harsh whooped out sections. We won’t be surprised if some desert racers will choose the four-seat Can-Am Maverick 1000 MAX over the standard two-seat version as the longer wheel base seems to be a favorite of many desert racers.

FOX Podium X Performance RC 2.5 Piggyback Shocks come stock on the Can-Am Maverick MAX 1000R X rs SxS

Also helping aid the 2014 Can-Am Maverick 1000R MAX model’s handling are FOX Podium X Performance RC 2.5 Piggyback Shocks that feature an impressive 14 inches of suspension travel - which also comes standard on the two seat Can-Am Maverick 1000R SxS / UTV. The FOX shocks do a great job of soaking up rough terrain and feature both dual speed compression and rebound as well as preload adjusts for those who want to fine-tune the suspension.

As mentioned above, the 2014 Can-Am Maverick 1000 MAX X rs SxS / UTV features the same powerful 101 Horsepower V-Twin ROTAX engine as the two seat Can-Am Maverick 1000 SxS / UTV.  The 976cc engine with state-of-the art high flow dynamics provides a high torque peppy drive with power available immediately when you push the gas pedal. With 101 horsepower stock, you have a lot of ponies at your disposal!
