The DPS Tri-Mode Electronic Power Steering comes
standard on 2014 Can-Am Maverick 1000R X xc DPS along
with the wider width Can-Am Maverick 1000 X rs DPS
SxS, and we highly recommend paying the extra money
for the DPS because it provides a noticeable improvement
in handling and reduced steering effort.

4WD greatly improves the 2014 Can-Am Maverick 1000 X xc SxS / UTVs handling |
Also, we found that driving the Can-Am Maverick X xc in 4-wheel-drive greatly improves handling in tight situations and allowed us to go faster through corners without the front end wanting to push as we found while running in two wheel drive.

FOX 2.0 Podium X Shocks front & rear help soak up the ride
|
To help soak up the bumps and jumps, Can-Am Maverick X xc comes with premium FOX 2.0 Podium X shocks, which feature 12 inches of travel, and they worked awesome on the Hilltown Riders ATV Club trails. We never experienced any fading or bottoming out during our test drive. The FOX suspension is also compression and rebound adjustable, so you can dial in the suspension to your driving style, and they are fully rebuildable, which is another bonus.

We were able to catch some air in the 2014 Can-Am Maverick 1000 X xc. The FOX shocks proved a smooth landing and we never bottomed out |
Providing the Can-Am Maverick 1000 X xc with power is a 976cc, V-twin, liquid-cooled ROTAX engine. This engine produced an impressive 101 horsepower from the factory and its power can be felt immediately! The Can-Am Maverick 1000R SxS / UTV features two driving modes – Sport Mode for more aggressive riding, and ECO mode that is well suited for a day of cruising the trails.

The
2014 Can-Am Maverick 1000R X xc has plenty of
low end power especially in sport-mode. To help
level out the power delivery there is also an
ECO mode |
ECO mode provides the driver and passengers with a more linear power cure. By leveling out the power curve, this also allows the Can-Am Maverick to get better fuel efficiency – thus the name ECO mode. While in Sport mode, the Can-Am Maverick comes alive with the push of the gas pedal. The power curve is more aggressive in Sport mode and it feels almost like has a 2 stroke style powerband with hard hitting power to quickly get the Maverick up to speed.
