/ Can-Am's Chad Wienen claims the DWT
World ATV MX Championship

Anza, California - After a rough
round seven, Can-Am Motoworks’ Chad Wienen
came back in round eight to take the first ever
DWT World ATV Motocross Pro Championship despite
a tough season long battle with Baldwin Motorsports’
Josh Upperman.
Much to the relief of ATV racers in attendance,
the rain that was so prominent in round seven
stopped and the sun began to peak out from behind
the clouds. Although still on the chilly side
with temps only in the 40’s, the track dried
out nicely and was looking promising for Sunday’s
races.
Sunday’s events would also be a little
more exciting in the pro class as MCR/Maxxis team
racers Mike Cafro and current WORCS Pro ATV Champ
Beau Baron would also be competing.

As racers charged off the line for moto one, Josh
Upperman picked up right where he left off on Saturday,
grabbing the moto one holeshot followed by Thomas
Brown, Chad Wienen, Mike Cafro and Beau Baron. Upperman
was holding steady, but Chad Wienen had gotten around
Thomas Brown, who was in second, and the trio once
again trained around the track bumper to bumper.

At about the mid way point, Wienen was pressuring
Upperman and waiting for the opportunity to get
a clean pass on him, when Wienen’s quad began
to smoke, so Thomas Brown capitalized on Wienen’s
misfortune and was able to retake the number two
spot as Wienen limped his DS450 around the track.
Brown would hold his position all the way to the
checkered flag.
Although Wienen’s quad was on the edge
of stopping he still had enough space between
him and Mike Cafro in fourth place to maintain
his number three spot for the rest of the moto.
