Before we get into our race report for this
round, we at ATVriders.com wish to extend our
heartfelt condolences to Doug Eichner and his
family. Doug’s wife, Joan, had been battling
cancer for a couple of years and she lost that
battle on Friday. Our thoughts and prayers are
with the entire Eichner family during this difficult
time. Racetown 395 in Adelanto, CA was the location
for round number five of the series and the weather
was nothing short of hot with temps hovering at
the 100 degree mark. While track workers did their
best to keep the track watered, there were some
sections they could not reach, making some wet
conditions in areas and dusty in others.

                                  | Despite
the hot temps, a large crowd spectator gatthered
around the track to watch the racing action
through the WORCS-X Section | Over the last few rounds, there had been much
debate over whether or not the pro class would
be allowed to drop one race this season and at
this round, it was determined that there would
be no drops, which worked to the advantage of
some racers and could be detrimental to others.

                                  | Yamaha's
#94 Dustin Nelson just came up short during
the Pro parade lap | There was a good WORCS –X section for this
round with two separate lines that races could
take. The one line had a series of five logs to
climb over, and the alternate line was much quicker
with just two, but the last one you had to launch
over a water lagoon, and if you didn’t clear
the fifteen foot gap, you were going to get wet,
but racers didn’t seem to mind getting a
little wet as it helped to cool them down in the
                                scorching heat.

Racing's #549 Beau Baron grabbed the Pro
ATV Holeshot followed closely by his teammate,
                                      #422 David Haagsma
 | As the gate dropped for the Pro ATV main event,
                                Maxxis Tires/H&M Motorsports’ Beau Baron
grabbed the holeshot and checked out. Baron recorded
the fastest lap of the race in lap two with a
time of 08:44.1. Baron’s blistering pace
kept him in the lead from start to finish.

#549 Beau Baron launches over the WORCS-X
                                      lagoon jump
 | Baron road unchallenged and took home the win
for his team by over 1:45 ahead of second place.
Baron’s win, combined with the “no
drop” decision has Baron in the points lead
at 115 points, nine points ahead of second place,
Josh Frederick. “I got out there and just tried to distance
myself from everyone and I was really tired, but
I just pushed and pushed. I knew I had a good
lead, but if I made a mistake that lead could
be gone easily so I just kept going as fast as
                                I could,” said Baron. |
