Yoshimura's Kory Ellis Wins Third Consecutive ATV Championship

White Brothers
4 Stroke MX Championship
San Bernardino, CA (4/22/2007) – The 20th Annual White Brother Four Stroke World MX Championship was held this weekend at Glen Helen Raceway in San Bernardino, CA. This is a premiere event for the bike motocross racers, but with all the different ATV national and region series around the Country, it doesn’t attract, but a few dozen ATV racers annually. Typically, the largest ATV class is the Pro Class, and it attracted less than a dozen ATV racers, but there were some top names among the entries with Kory Ellis, Dustin Nelson, Josh Creamer, Cycle Chislock, and Dustin Terry among the Pros.

#53 Kory Ellis Thre-Time White Bros 4 Stroke World MX Champion
The track layout for the Four Stroke Championship was identical to that of the ATVA MX National held at Glen Helen last month with all the huge hills, which had lap times running over 3 minutes long. Just like the ATVA Nationals, the Pros ran two Motos for 20 Minutes plus one lap, and with the bikes tearing up the track all day as well, it would be nearly twice as rough as what the riders experienced a month earlier as the bikes created stretches of breaking bumps down the big hills and rutted up the turns, which was an added challenge to the ATV racers. It also meant that line choice was extremely critical, and picking the wrong line would be costly down the big hills.

For two-time 4 Stroke World Champion, Kory Ellis, it was just another day at the office as he charged his way through the pack both Motos to claim overall win and his third-straight Pro ATV 4 Stroke National Championship.

In the First Moto, it was Dustin Nelson grabbing the Holeshot followed by Josh Creamer with Kory Ellis starting near the back of the pack, but several laps into the race, Ellis charged his way past both Nelson and Creamer to take over the lead, which he attributed to his poor start. “I think my bad starts worked in my favor because I was able to find the good and bad lines by watching the other riders in the first lap, so on the second lap, I picked some really fast lines to make some smart and clean passes on the lead riders as I worked my way to the front” said Ellis.

Kory Ellis pulled away to nearly a 10 second lead over Dustin Nelson by the checkered flag with Creamer applying the pressure to Nelson for the majority of the race, but was unable to make the pass and settled for third followed by Dustin Terry and Cycle Chislock rounding out the top five.

For the second Moto, Big Kid Racing’s Roy Bloodworth put up $100 for the Holeshot Award, and Kawasaki’s Josh Creamer snatched the prize with his KFX450R, and once again, Kory Ellis was off to a mid pack start, but quickly wedged his way between Creamer and Nelson.

Josh Creamer lead the first half of the second Moto before he opened the door for Ellis on one of the big down-hills when he tried a new line, which proved to be extremely rough and allowed Ellis to make the easy pass for the lead. Ellis was able to check out on Creamer when his Radiator hose cracked and began to spit fluid, so Creamer backed off the throttle enough to stay ahead of Nelson and claim the runners up spot in the Moto Two and 2nd overall for the day behind Ellis with Nelson claiming the final podium spot.

“It was a good day, track conditions were great, but sharing the track with dirt bikes was a challenge from all the breaking bumps,” said Kory Ellis, and his sentiments were the norm among all the ATV racers at the event.

For Josh Creamer, it not only provided him the opportunity to fine tune his KFX450R in preparation for the upcoming WPSA opening round in Georgia next weekend April 28-29th, and he also went home with a healthy payout from Kawasaki alone with $2,500 in contingency money for second place overall. “The KFX450R was working great and the Pro Circuit engine is right wear we need it to be, and we are really getting the Elka Suspension dialed in as well, and I would say we are 100% ahead of where we were at the Glen Helen National,” said Creamer.
