Romain Couprie dominated the qualifying and motos
for round 5 of the UEM EMX Quad European Champion.
In front of his fellow countrymen, the Frenchmen
took all three moto wins. Nicola Montalbini claimed
second place with Britain’s Jason Macbeth
rounding out the top three.
The sun was out, and so was the spectators. In
the quiet village of Saint Mamet du Salvetat,
France over 7000 race enthusiastic Frenchmen came
out to watch the UEM European Championship Quadcross
by Goldspeed. They received three exciting motos,
but the action already started on Saturday with
the qualifications. The riders received a challenging
track with lots of jumps and tight corners.

time by over 4 seconds |
It was the current Champion, Paul Holmes (KTM-Holmesracing),
that had the fastest lap for a long time. It wasn’t
until in the final minutes that Romain Couprie
(Yamaha-Audemar) took a solid lead by improving
upon Holmes’ time by over 4 seconds, and
Couprie became the fastest qualifier by far. Davy
Brems (W-tec-Quad Deal) had third place. The top
five was completed by Joe Maessen (Yamaha-Goldspeed)
and Jason Macbeth (KTM UK).

ATV MX Racing Moto One |
Nicola Montalbini (Honda-Team Cozzi) grabbed
the Holeshot in Moto 1 followed by Davy De Cuyper
(KTM-Deforce) and Romain Couprie. By the end of
the first lap, Romain Couprie moved up into second
place and was locked on Montalbini in the lead,
and Jason Macbeth was now challenging De Cuyper
for the third spot. Meanwhile, Paul Holmes was
fighting his way through the pack after a bad
start. The Portuguese Jonathan Gil (Suzuki) was
working his way into the top 5 of Moto 1.

began to lead the race but soon came under

Couprie set his sights on the Honda of Montalbini
& quickly took over the lead to go on
& take the moto one win |
Couprie had successfully grabbed the lead of
Montalbini and was starting to build a gap early
on in the race. Davy Brems and Jan Vlaeymans (W-tec-Planet
Quad) were also trying to get through the pack.
Joe Maessen missed his start completely.The Dutchmen
fought hard to grab a few extra points for the
Championship. The victory was for Romain Couprie,
followed by Montalbini and Holmes. The last fought
hard a battle with Jason Macbeth and was able
to settle his KTM in third position.
