Tuskahoma, OK - Have you ever
heard of a race being canceled as a result of
a forest fire??? Driving to Valley Moto MX Friday
evening . . . you saw thickets of smoke and ‘glowing
orange’ on the mountain sides. There were
many forest fires throughout the journey to the
track – however, no harm done to the track
and there were . . . PERFECT racing temperatures!!
Two races in a row, dare we ask for a 3rd? Once
again, TQRA had an incredible turnout even factoring
in the skyrocketing fuel prices.
As expected, the Expert and ProAm riders put
on a show for the spectators. Snapp Brothers
came with their race faces on and very focused
on throwing down some laps in preparation for
the Pell City National, March 19 – 20th.
Younger brother Chase took the 1-1 win in both
Expert and Pro –Am. Corey gave a solid
performance walking away with 3rd in Expert
and 4th in Pro-Am.

Young rider Colton Cluck on the 29 KTM is worth
mentioning; he took 3 of 4 holeshots in the Open
Quad and stacked Open B class. Colton is hanging
with the older riders and showing all, he is a
young man with potential and drive. For the second
consecutive race in the 2011 TQRA Series, Open
B had a full gate. As a matter of fact, so full
we had to hold an LCQ. The main held 18 quads
at the gate, and the holeshot was nothing short
of nerve racking . . .Colton Cluck prevailed and
clinched his 3rd holeshot of the day!! Another
youngster, Pake Shinn, took the overall for the
second race in a row followed by former Cross
Country racer, Travis Brown in the 2nd spot, Pierce
Barrett riding a Thomas Brown Yamaha, took the
third spot. From far west Texas, Tyson Pendergrass
took the 4th spot and freestyler, Garrett Moenning
secured the 5th spot after taking a hard spill
in practice.
With 5 riders registered, the Mini Mod class
is growing. Cory Gonzalez took the overall on
his Modified Honda, followed by Garrett Collins
of Conway, AR . Cody Ford took spot #3 and Austin
Gaines took spot #4. We continue to try to build
the Mini Mod rider base, in hopes of growing
our youth program at TQRA. Help us spread the
word . . . . this is the future of quad racing!!

Pro, Johnny Hale giving Andrew McWilliams
some final advice before the gate drops
in Moto One |
Our Mini and PeeWee classes continue to grow.
Andrew McWilliams made his racing debut on his
Honda, modified with foot pedals by Dave Carter.
Here is TQRA Pro, Johnny Hale giving Andrew
some final advice before the gate drops in Moto
One. Andrew waved to the spectator crowd after
his finish and even gave a ‘brief’
interview to the announcer. Of course, his answers
were “yes” “no” “yes”
“yes”!!! Let’s just say I
believe this little man is hooked!! Andrews
parents have created a monster and older brother,
Jacob, better watch out!!
TQRA has an abundance of classes to offer all
skill sets and racer enthusiasts. Our schedule
does not conflict with the ATVA National schedule.
