2013 Terracross Racing Round #2 & 3 - Haydays September 7-8, 2013 Sunrise, MN

Sunrise, Minnesota (9/14/2013) - Rory Beckman claimed his second win of the season and the FOX Pro Quad 4x4 Stock championship at the Terracross Championship season finale doubleheader held at the Heydays in Minnesota. In this double-header weekend, Daryl Rath came on strong and secured the win at the season finale on day two.

The final rounds of the 2013 Terracross Championship Racing Series at Haydays featured numerous obstacles for racers including logs, rocks, tractor tires & more

Packed into a tight arena at Sunrise Township, Minnesota were the final rounds of the 2013 Terracross Championship. Racers had plenty of obstacles standing between them and the checkered flag.  Large tractor tires, logs, terrain sections and a big table top were among the many different obstacles the competitors had to tackle while battling for the win.

“This is a tight arena here and a lot of things to go on in small space. I give these guys a lot of credit,” mentioned Daryl Rath.

Much like the SxS event that also took place this weekend, racers would challenge each other on identical and stock 2014 Polaris Scrambler utility quads. Competition and a winning edge came down to the rider’s ability, not who has the best mechanic or the most money to purchase go fast parts.

“The scrambler with the power steering is really easy to ride. It takes all of the shock out of the handlebars. They also have those nice FOX shocks on them. I stiffened mine up a bit and that really helped. I could hit things harder and not worry about bottoming out,” commented Rath after the race.

Rory Beckman grabbed the Holeshot in first main event of the weekend, but he wasn’t alone as Zac Zakowski was chasing after his rear bumper as they raced around the track for the eight lap main event.  In the end, Beckman ran a flawless race to secure his second win of the season with Zakowski finishing just over a second behind him.

“It was a great battle and I really enjoyed it. I knew Zac was going to be tough,” said Beckman.

Although Rory Beckman finished fourth in Round 4, it was enough to secure the 2013 Terracross ATV Championship

Day two proved to not be as fortunate for Beckman due to an early run in with Zakowski that would cost him the win, but he still managed to finish in the fourth spot, which was more than enough for Beckman to wrap-up the 2013 Terracross Pro Quad 4x4 Stock Class Championship.

“Zac had a little mishap coming up into the tall log section. I just about cleared him but ended up bumping into him and got tipped over and rolled down the side of the hill. We had to roll the machine all the way over and I ended up in fourth I think. It was good enough to lock up the championship,” said Beckman.
