Friday the 13th started off the first day with team
races. After a chaotic start with a multiple quad pile
ups, Team NGR (Nic Granlund, Jason Anderson) emerged
from the fiasco and captured the lead from ACE Racing
Teammates Shaun Moore and Cody Mitchell. Amongst the
back of the pile up was runner-up Team Rath(Daryl Rath,
Frank Batista); fighting through traffic picking off
one by one as they managed a very respectable second
place finish ahead of ACE Racing despite being nearly
a minute behind at the start.

The
big surprise in the Team Race was local Las Vegas
resident, TJ Lavin, participating in the event.
For those of you living in a cave, TJ Lavin has
been claimed to be one of the best BMX dirt jumpers
of all time with multiple X-Games apperances,
but this weekend he traded his bicycle for a Yamaha
Raptor.

Saturday started off with two pro ATV qualifiers and
two amateur heats as well. Pro qualifier one winner,
Jason Anderson, grabbed the early Holeshot, followed
by Daryl Rath and Kenny Pacheco. The three battled fiercely
till the end, but at the end it was Anderson maintaining
the lead and capturing the win. The second Pro qualifier
started off with California’s TT racer Frank Batista
grabbing the Holeshot and taking a commanding lead till
the halfway point while defending champion Nic Granlund
working his way from a disappointing tenth place start.
Granlund had to fight lap traffic as he picked off riders
with each passing lap, but he never had a chance to
reel in Batista out front claiming the easy victory
with Granlund collecting a well earned second place
finish when the checkered flag waved. The Amateur heat
race winners were Russell McWhorter, and Cody Mitchell.
Following the two heat races was the final Pro qualifier,
with a respectable 29 entries, it was an intense line
up. As the green flag dropped, it was Batista capturing
yet another Holeshot on his Curtis Sparks Racing Honda,
followed by Nic Granlund, Daryl Rath, and Jason Anderson.
At the half way point, Granlund managed to sneak by
Batista in the dirt section and the two checked out
from the rest of the field from that point forward.
Daryl Rath battled some mechanical failures after the
half way point and ended up losing a spot at the end.
At the checkered flag, it was Granlund earning the win
and Pro Main pole position followed by Frank Batista,
Kenny Pacheco, and Daryl Rath.
