Glen Helen Raceway - Round 5

San Bernardino, CA (7/9/2013) - H&M Motorsports’ Beau Baron claimed his first win of the Yamaha Quad X ATV Motocross racing season at round five in San Bernardino, California. Beau Baron scored 2-2 at the Glen Helen Raceway to claim the victory. DASA Racing’s Joe Byrd took second after his first west coast ride of the season and Yamaha’s Josh Row placed third.

The layout at the Glen Helen Raceway was very different from the usual; the track that is normally adorned with multiple large jumps only featured a few jumps, but a lot of turns and hills were the racers challenge this round.

Beau Baron didn’t mind the challenge and championed the track both motos; his scorecard of 2-2 earned him his first Quad X victory of the season. Baron didn’t have the best moto one start; he and his Sparks engine ripped off the gate, but he was pinched out in the first turn and set to the back of the pack. He worked his way through the pack and soon was in third behind David Haagsma and Joe Byrd. Mid-way through the moto Baron took over the second spot; he pressured Byrd for the win but was unable to make a pass stick.

Baron had a better start in moto two and was in third as the racers started around the track. He took an inside line to pass Byrd, who was in second and fell into place behind Haagsma.  Baron remained behind his teammate until the checkers and secured both second place in the moto and the overall win.

“Today went really well. My Maxxis Tires were perfect. The track was a little slick during moto two, but my tires were the perfect amount of gummy and hooked up everywhere I needed. I am really stoked to get my first win this season,” said Baron after the race. Baron currently holds second in the class points.
