                                San Bernardino, CA – Consistency
proved king as H&M Motorsports / Maxxis Tire’s
David Haagsma claimed his eighth pro ATV class win
at the 2012 Yamaha / Quad X series finale by going
1-1 to secure his first ever Pro ATV Championship.
Yamaha’s Dustin Nelson just missed adding
another championship to his resume by finishing
in the second spot after a dramatic second moto
race to the finish. Haagsma’s teammate Beau
Baron rounded out the top three with respectable
                              3-3 finishes.

took place north of San Bernardino, CA at the
famed Glen Helen Raceway. The weather was great
for racing and excitement was in the air as eight
pro racers lined the starting gate. With just
three points separating Nelson and Haagsma for
the championship anticipation was high as each
knew that they needed to win to secure the championship.

                                      Moto One Holeshot |
In the first moto, H&M Motorsports / Maxxis
Tire’s David Haagsma grabbed the holeshot
with his Sparks engine and never looked back. Haagsma
edged out Nelson and teammate Beau Baron and by
the end of lap one had put a sizable gap on the
                              rest of the field.

Maxxis' #422 David Haagsma went unchallenged
in Moto One for the easy win | “Everything went
well. It was a clean race. My motor pulled great
and my Maxxis tires really hooked up,” regarded
Haagsma of moto one. The second moto had a little more drama for the
California racer. Haagsma got pinched out on the
holeshot by the Yamaha pair of Nelson and Row
and by the first turn was back to fifth position
behind Beau Baron and Colt Brinkerhoff. “I slowly started picking people off and
by the second lap was in second. I knew I had
to win in order to get my championship and I wasn’t
going to back down,” said Haagsma of the
                                second moto.

#422 David Haagsma got off to a 5th place
start in Moto 2, but within a few laps,
he began to challenge #94 Dustin Nelson
for the lead & after nearly passing
Nelson on an off-chamber turn with two laps
to go, Haagsma went for it again the next
lap & made the pass to take over the
lead heading into the final lap |
The battle for the checkers was intense between
the two championship contenders, but in the end
Haagsma was able to capitalize on a mistake by Nelson
and claim the win. The win was not only monumental
for Haagsma, for this first Pro ATV Championship,
but also for his H&M Motorsport team because
they had won the number one plate in both leading
                              West Coast series.

myself that there was no option but to win. I
wanted this, my team wanted this and we earned
it,” regarded Haagsma of his first ATV Pro
