Surprise, AZ - (9/29/2012) – A simple, smooth and fast track greeted racers at round eight of the 2012 Yamaha Quad X series. Nine riders lined the gate Saturday evening at Speedworld MX in Surprise, AZ for the pro class; H&M Motorsports / Maxxis Tire’s David Haagsma made it his day by going 1-1. Yamaha’s Dustin Nelson took second spot and H&M’s Beau Baron rounded out the top three.

Because of the very hot temperatures at Speedworld MX in Surprise, AZ, Yamaha QuadX Round 8 was held after the sun went down & tempatures cooled off

The race was held at night because of the scalding temperatures that grace Arizona during the day.  The high on Saturday was around 100 degrees and the racers were thankful to hit the track after the sun went down.

“I’ve been here when it’s been 120 degrees, so racing in the evening makes it a lot better” regards Haagsma of the heat.

H&M Motorsports / Maxxis Tire’s David Haagsma celebrated his birthday in style with wins in each moto. It seemed as if the second moto was a repeat of the first. Haagsma lead from the gate drop to the checkers. Despite leading from the start in each moto Haagsma was under pressure from H&M Motorsports teammate Beau Baron and Yamaha’s Dustin Nelson.

“I was under pressure, but the race just went great. My Maxxis tires really hooked up and my Sparks engine was so fast,” said Haagsma.

Haagsma’s win will aid him in his chase for this first Pro ATV Championship.
“The track was really hard to pass on; there was really only one good line. That helped me get my win. I just grabbed the holeshot and held on,” said Haagsma.
