NQRA Virginia
Motor Mayhem Round 2 ATV Race Report
Chase City, Virginia - May
14, 2010
Chase City, VA (6/2/2010) -ATV
racing has seen its share of up’s and downs
over the past 25 years and with the current economy
stuck in a rut, the immediate future doesn’t
look all that great if you happen to be a promoter
trying to get a fledgling series off the ground.

|
The
Track for round 2 was in prestine condition
for the racers |
Fans
& racers lined the staging area awaiting
to get out on the track |
For Randy Dinkins and the N.Q.R.A. (National
Quad Racing Association) the task would be immense.
Get series sponsors, get the funds needed to keep
the show rolling, have a venue that appeals to
the majority and…get the racers to show
up.
The Motor Mayhem series would not just cater
to ATV’s as Dinkins aimed to bring an assortment
of competition such as Lawnmower & SXS racing
and 4x4 Obstacle courses to round out what he
hopes will be an entertaining and competitive
environment for racers and spectators alike. Randy
is not a stranger to the world of ATV racing and
being involved in the promotion side of things.
He started back in 2003 and has had several highly
successful years as the sport was undergoing huge
growth and racing was nearing its peak before
the factory involvement we know today.

Extreme Dirt
Track Pro ATV Racer, #5, Maxxis' Kirby
Cook, was on hand & provided some
excited for the fans!
|
We were able to catch up to the “Virginia Motor Mayhem” event at round
two to see what all was in store for the racers.
What awaited the TT racers was one incredible track
laid out in the middle of the Chase City VA Fairgrounds
where all the rounds have and will be held this
season.
Dinkins had the course laid out and the racers
had spent the better part of the day running practice
and getting ready for the nighttime main events
under the lights! From pint sized youth racers
to full on Pro riders, the action would be fast
and furious as the racing began.
|
Paula Shank,
Women's EDT Racing Champ was on hand and
raced at round 2
|
Main after main would be run in various classes
that suited just about anyone and any set up with
a few fun classes thrown in, such as the “Dash
for Cash” which was open to anyone as long
as they ran knobby tires! Now the racing itself
is what one would expect, its fast, its loud and
it’s a blast to watch.
My days of ripping around the track are long
gone but I must admit, when I first saw the track
I had that itch so bad that I almost asked to
borrow a quad! In fact Randy offered me a ride
but I better stick to watching and writing for
the time being, but that’s how things roll
at the NQRA……everyone is made to feel
wanted and at home!
