Wallkill, NY - The 2011 NEATV-MX Season Opener kicked off this weekend at Walden MX. The rains that had plagued the Northeast the past few weeks moved out leaving sun, blue skies, and overall great weather for racing. The series welcomes back many returning Pro and Pro-Am ATV racers as well as some new faces. Over 350 riders came to the opener and were treated to a great day of racing. Howard Payne from NEATV-MX commented “this is one of the largest turn outs we’ve seen in the past few years.”

The 2011 NEATV-MX Series schedule once again includes 12 rounds of racing across the North East with many of the racers favorites back on the schedule like Southwick’s MX338, Hemonds Moto X Park, MX207, and Walden MX to name a few, but there is also a few new locations added to the schedule with the addition of Raceway Park in Englishtown, New Jersey and MX 101 in Epping, New Hampshire.

Once again, the New England ATV Motocross Season Opener was held at Walden MX in Wallkill, New York, which attracted a large crowd of racers and spectators

Besides a few new tracks, there is also several big name racers joining the series for 2011 with two-time AMA ATV MX Champion, 191 Dustin Wimmer, and reigning 2010 AMA Pro ATV MX Champion, Josh Creamer, both making the switch to the NEATV-MX Series full-time. Wimmer will remain on his proven Suzuki LTR450 with his mechanic, Glenn Schlude, of ATV Innovations.

Josh Creamer has made the switch to the Can-Am DS450 with the support of Motoworks / DWT, and his old mechanic DRT’s David Therrien, is lending him a hand at the track.

Another big changes is the expansion of the Polaris Southside Team, which now includes multi-time Canadian CMR MX Champion, #91 Jasmin Plante, #8 Michael Pilotte, and #37 Kody Evans from Arizona. The three new Southside racers will compete on the Polaris Outlaw 450MXR with all three making the switch from other brands.

Jason Dunkelberger - Honda TRX 450R ATV MX Racing

2010 Yamaha / ITP Quadcross Open Pro Champion, Golden West Cycle's #19 Jason Dunkelberger, makes the switch to the NEATV-MX Series for 2011

Finally, Pennsylvania’s #19 Jason Dunkelberger, makes his return to racing on the East Coast after claiming the 2010 ITP Quadcross Open Pro Championship last year. Dunk also made the switch to a Golden West / Maxxis Honda TRX 450R for 2011 with the help of PRP’s David Porter.

Unfortunately, with ever rising gas prices and sluggish economy, many of the series top racers from 2010 were also missing from the line-up, which included multi-time champion, Joe Haavisto, Nate Morello, Myles Santaniello, and Jason Connell just to name a few, but despite there absence from the line-up the racing action remained intense among the newcomers and the returning pros.
