Southwick, MA - With the help
of his new mechanic, Greg Gee was able to edge
out Kawasaki Monster Energy’s Joe Haavisto
to take the Open Pro win at round six of the New
England ATV Motocross Series, but Haavisto would
bounce back to go 1-1 and take the overall in
the Open Pro-am class.

The
New England ATV Motocross Series has reached
the half way mark of the season with Round
6 held at the MX338 in Southwick, MA,
and this track has become famous for being
one of the roughest tracks with its sandy
soil, which is hard on the racers &
ATVs, and the spectators are spared either
with the track almost like a bowl with
the parking on the rim in a large flat
area, but everything is downhill to the
track, which requires some hiking up and
down the hillside for the spectators &
race crew
|
Southwick was the hosting facility for the
second time this season. Rains the night before
made things a little wet at the start of the
day, but the sandy track dried out quickly as
the clouds parted and gave way to sunny skies.

Aaron Meyer on his Polaris Outlaw grabbed
the Holeshot ahead of Greg Gee & Nate
Morello while Myles Santaniello &
Ralle Rookey tangled heading into turn
one, which sent the pair tumbling |
As the gate dropped for the first Pro moto,
it was Polaris mounted Aaron Meyer who took
the holeshot on the uphill start, followed closely
by Greg Gee, Nate Morello, Michael Pilotte and
Jason Connell, who were fortunate enough to
avoid the carnage when Myles Santaniello and
Ralle Rookey got together, sending both riders
flipping.

Greg Gee capitalizes on a mistake by Aaron
Meyer to claim the Moto One Win |
Greg Gee was applying pressure for the lead
almost immediately, but Aaron Meyer maintained
the number one spot all the way until the final
lap. Meyer ended up spinning out in a turn,
which gave Gee the opportunity he had been looking
for. Gee took the lead and was able to put enough
space between him and Meyer to take the moto
one win with Meyer following in second.
Nate Morello was holding on to third and was
looking good, but in lap six his counter sprocket
came loose forcing him to the side of the track.
With Morello out of the way, Joe Haavisto, who
had worked his way up from a mid pack start,
was able to take over the number three position
before crossing the finish line.
