Snydersville,
PA (5/18/2012)
– The Harry’s Lawn Care opening round
of the 2012 NE EDT Series kicked off with a big
bang at the Snydersville Raceway. For the second
year running, our proud sponsor Harry’s
Lawn Care pulled in just under 100 entries, with
23 riders in Production and 19 in Pro/Am, it was
sure to be exciting! New for 2012 the Production
class is a 100% amateur money class, along with
a $100 holeshot award; giving the amateurs a good
fair chance to win some cash!
At the riders meeting NE EDT President Eric Jennings
pulled out of a hat and the youngsters in the
50cc class were the lucky class chosen for a $50
holeshot award. Factory ESJ mini rider, Taylor
Jennings won $50 large from one of four Harry’s
Lawn Care holeshot awards. Additional TSI Competition
Engines gave the NE EDT series a box of parts
so each class will have the chance to win some
great prizes.
Pro/Am started off the night with Walsh Race Crafts,
Joey Polak getting the heat races number one win.
Pro/Am heat two went to the defending Pro and
Pro/Am champion Brian Ace with little pressure
from anyone else, making Brian your second heat
race winner.
Thruway Racing’s Kris “Tiffer”
Bures got out front in the final heat, with Factory
ESJ rider Andrew Evanyke applying pressure in
the first few laps. After the 8 laps, Bures won
the third heat.
With almost a full gate and 4 rows of racers,
the $100 Harry’s Lawn Care holeshot went
to Robert’s Racing/Baldwin’s Brian
Ace. Picking up right where he left off, Ace pulled
away from the field extremely fast. Justin Frindt
fought off Bures for the number two spot. On lap
11, Brandon Gates was able to get by Bures for
a final spot on the podium. After the 15 laps,
Ace was your winner, with Frindt and Gates in
third.
Pro heat number one was local Factory ESJ rider
Andrew Evanyke, with the holeshot and Houghton
second. After 8 laps the order stayed the same,
Evanyke getting his very first Pro heat race win!
For heat number two, the holeshot went to Dent
Builders, Dave Dent and Frindt in second, Ace
in third. After 2 laps, Frindt was your new leader
with Ace right in the shadows. Ace was working
the option lines coming out just behind Frindt.
After the 8 laps, Frindt was able to keep the
lead for the heat win.
Harry’s Lawn Care Pro main was getting
lined up for the tough 20 laps. Once again, it
was Roberts Racing/Baldwin’s Brian Ace out
front getting the $150 Harry’s Lawn Care
holeshot. Brandon Gates came in second and Kris
Bures taking third. On the first lap Justin Frindt
suffered a right front flat tire, ultimately DNFing.
Ace slowly walking away from Gates and Bures,
left the two for a 19 lap battle for the runner
up spot. After the 20 laps, the running order
was Ace, Gates, Bures, Houghten, Dent and Evanyke.
Evanyke finished multiple laps down after hurting
his left ankle in the Pro/Am main.
