2011 North East EDT
Round #5 - Oakland Valley Speedway
Otisville, NY (10/20/2011) – Round 5 was back at the starting point, the NE EDT held it’s opening round at Oakland Valley Speedway. The day started off the same way, over cast and dark cloud cover that looked like it was going to rain any second. But Oakland Valley is famous for NO Rain! Practice was under way, Pro and Pro/Am point’s leader had carburetor issues and missed practice all together. Pro point’s runner up Justin Frindt suffered bad luck as well in practice, with his Kawasaki. Round 5 was proudly title sponsored by Anthony Bros Powdercoating, of Warwick, NY.

In the riders meeting, NE EDT President Eric Jennings held a drawing for an amateur holeshot award of $50.00. The drawing revealed the 90cc class was the lucky class for the holeshot. Winning the $50.00 holeshot award was local Dylan Dworak of Bloomingburg, NY. Once again it was the Brain Ace show grabbing both Pro/Am and Pro Holeshots, earning himself $250 before the first lap was over. The NE EDT put up an extra $100 for the Pro oval ATV class; Andy Sier grabbed the holeshot and pulled away with a half a track lead after the 15 laps.

Pro/Am had a total of 15 riders signed up. With a purse more than the Pro’s and $100 for a holeshot award, the riders were looking ready to work. Andrew Evanyke won the first Pro/Am heat with no pressure from anyone, while on his joy ride out front Evanyke set fast time for Pro/Am. Ken Macgregor took home the second Pro/Am heat. The final Pro/Am heat was dramatic to say the least. Brian Ace pulled the holeshot after not running a single lap of practice. Jennings was second, Andrew Ace third. Jennings and A. Ace got tangled up in the first turn. Falling to the rear of the field, both managed to work their way back to a second and Jennings in third.

Brian Ace won the $100 Anthony Bros Powdercoating holeshot award in the NE EDT Pro-am main at Oakland Valley Raceway

In the Pro/Am main it was Brian Ace on his Hellbound/Baldwin Honda taking the $100 Anthony Bros Powdercoating holeshot with Andrew Evanyke in second and Mike LaBagh in third. On lap two Rob Gillespie clipped a tire and went for a thrill ride bringing out the red flag. Now with 2 laps down the field lines back up. This holeshot this time was Andrerw Ace out front, with big brother Brian in second. Brian Ace was able to get by Andrew. But by half way it was “the new kid on the block” Andrew Evanyke coming from 5th now applying serious pressure the Brian Ace. Evanyke trying different option lines just about every lap. After a 10 place start on lap 10 Eric Jennings passed Andrew Ace for third, Jennings was closing in on the battle for the lead. After 15 nail biting laps it was Brian Ace, Evanyke and Jennings with the final spot on the podium.
