Dry
Run, PA (10/27/2011)
– Round 4 came after Round 5 due to Hurricane
Irean’s rath on the northeast in August. The
devastation would continue a few days prior to the
race with a title wave effect on the final round.
Pro point’s leader Brian Ace and younger brother
Andrew had a life changing disaster on Wednesday
when their garage burnt to the ground! Both Brian
and Andrew lost everything from their race bikes
to riding gear. Holding their heads up both of them
showed up with tons of support from everyone in
the NE EDT series. Barrowing helmets, boots, gloves
and most importantly quads to ride. Eric Jennings
the NE EDT President stated at the riders meeting
that the NE EDT and many series supporters had put
together an Ace fund raiser. Watching the racers
community come together and raised over $600 in
one day, ESJ Graphics stepped up and donated graphics
for both Aces’s to put the finishing touches
on the new bikes when completed. The NE EDT is asking
any other company’s to help with any products
that can be donated for the reconstruction of both
quads.
With the points close and an endless list of
unexpected events the race was about to unveil
the Fast Forward Racing Round 4 at Path Valley
Race Park was underway. The 14-24 class had the
opportunity for the $50.00 holeshot award, as
well as the $150.00 for Pro and $100.00 for Pro/Am.
The 14-24 class has some of the best racing
and is a great stepping stone to move to the Pro
class. Class favorite Andrew Evanyke came into
the final round 3 points down from Tyler Kehs,
after Evanyke missed the main at the previous
round due to over heating issues. The final round
came down to who ever won. Nether of the point
chasers won their heat races, making the main
crucial for maximum points. Tyler getting right
to work pulling the Fast Forward Racing holeshot
earning himself $50.00, Evanyke was in third behind
Meyers. Evanyke spent the next five laps trying
to get by Meyers. Evanyke now in second and the
championship in front of him, Evanyke ran down
Kehs. With two laps to go coming into the infield
Evanyke got on the out side of Kehs, over the
rollers coming into a tight right hander Kehs
is able to keep Evanyke behind him. Panic sets
in for Evanyke, he made one last attempt for the
win but came up unsuccessful. Tyler Kehs winning
the race and 14-24 Championship, with Evanyke
and Meyers in third.
Pro/Am had a total of 12 riders signed up. With
a purse more than the Pro’s and $100 for
a holeshot award, the riders were looking to get
to work. Kristopher Bures won the first Pro/Am
heat with no pressure from anyone, while on his
joy ride out front Bures set fast time for Pro/Am.
The second heat Brian Ace on one of the barrowed
quads pulled the holeshot, Michael Houghton is
second and Andrew Ace third. After one lap bad
luck hit B. Ace again, Ace high sided the quad
on the oval going almost 60 mph bringing out the
red flag. Ace walking away fine but ending his
day in the Pro/Am class. The second holeshot would
go to Michael Houghton, A. Ace in second and Cody
Wompler third. Eric Jennings had problems directly
off the start but seemed to work it out passing
Wompler for third, then running a massive lead
down on Houghton and Ace. As Jennings followed
the leaders for a lap Jennings problem came back,
and DNFed the heat. Michael Houghton taking the
win for the second Pro/Am heat and Andrew Ace
finishing second.
