Otisville,

(6/16/2011) –
Round 1 kicked off Friday with Eric Jennings EDT
Riding School, followed by an open pra ctice Friday
night to get dialed in. Sunday started out with
some light rain that pushed back the program about
30 minutes. That rain and an overcast sky kept the
track super fast and had all the spectators on their
toes with some great racing. Sunday’s race
was titled sponsored by To The Max Landscape, putting
up $300 in holeshot awards and an extra $100 to
the Pro winner.
In the riders meeting, NE EDT President Eric
Jennings had a drawing for an amateur holeshot
award of $50.00. The drawing revealed the 50cc
was the lucky class for the holeshot. This meant
the kids that have yet to earn money from the
tooth fairy were now going to get the chance to
win $50.00. Jared Kline made it very clear he
was going to be a major player in the future,
pulling the holeshot as if he was a factory rider.
Some racers who are use to getting some of the
green stuff, such as Andrew Ace, grabbed the Pro/Am
holeshot and earned $100. Andrew’s brother
and well know EDT Pro, Brian Ace, also earned
himself some cash which totaled $150 for the Pro
holeshot.
NE EDT offering of the 2 stroke class as the second
Pro/Am class was quickly proven to be a big hit.
It was nice to hear and smell those 2 strokes
that so many of us remember. Everything from your
famous Honda 250r to the winning TRX LT-500 hybrid
shows that even in today’s 4 stroke era,
the 2 strokes are still in the competition. Andrew
Evanyke pulled the holeshot, with Brian Demarmels
in second and Rick Franze, Sr in third. Demarmels
using the different option lines gave him a wide
open shot when coming out of the infield to run
that big 500 on the outside of Evanyke going into
turn one. Demarmels showing that his new 2 stroke
build was the quad to beat, pulling a 5.00+ second
lead for the win with Evanyke in second and Franze
Sr finishing third.
