Dustin
Wimmer Dominates 33rd Motorama ATV Arenacross
Race
::Continued::
Dustin Wimmer’s domination continued on
Sunday as he once again went on to win both events,
but he had to work his way to the front in the
Pro-Am class after Burgard Cycle’s Randy
Lehr grabbed the Holeshot followed by Golden West
Cycle’s Jason Dunkelberger. Unfortunately,
Lehr and Dunk collided shortly into the race,
which left them locked together and opened the
door for Wimmer to make the easy pass for the
lead for his fourth win of the weekend.

Dustin Wimmer was a smooth as ever around
the Arenacross track on his LTR450 ATV race
quad from the 2010 AMA MX Nationals |
For the past five years, the #19 Jason Dunkelberger
has been a dominate force at Motorama, but for
2011, he would go win less and claim two second
place finishes in the Open A Class while having
bad luck in both the Pro-Am races.

signing autographs & selling t-shirts
to Motorama race fans |
The past couple of years, Dunk has been racing on
the west coast in the Yamaha / ITP Quadcross Series
on a Yamaha YFZ450R, but for 2011, he staying on
the east coast and racing in the New England ATV
MX Series on a Golden West Cycle’s Honda TRX
450R, but Dunk’s race quads aren’t built
yet, so Dave Porter loaned him a TRX 450R to compete
at Motorama. Dave Porter will also be Dunk’s
mechanic at the NEATV-MX Series in 2011, and Porter
himself will also return to racing as well.
In the Saturday’s Open A Class, Dunk started
out in third right behind #338 Brian Ace, but
quickly moved into the second spot, which is where
he stayed till the checkered flag. Unfortunately,
while in staging for the Pro-Am Main, he discovered
his rear shock was blown, which took him out of
the race before it even started. Dunk was then
faced with a scramble to get another rear shock
before Sunday’s races.

Jason Dunkelberger battled early on with
#338 Brian Ace in the Open A Class, but
he made the pass to take over the 2nd spot
with Ace finishing in 3rd on Saturday |
On Sunday, Dunk would once again claim the 2nd
spot behind Wimmer in the Open A Class, but he
would tangle with Randy Lehr while battling for
the lead in the Pro-Am race, which left the pair
sidelined and Dunk would finish in 4th place.
