Gosport, IN (5/21/2015) - The WORCS Mid America Cross Country Championship Series held round three at The Big Nasty in Gosport, Indiana, and Kyle Chaney claimed the MAXC Racing Pro UTV win in his second-ever MAXC Series race followed by Jerry Boling and Tim Marshall rounding out the MAXC Pro UTV Podium.

For round three, the MAXC series owner’s made it a personal mission to walk the entire course themselves and lay it out by hand to make sure it’s a great course for the motorcycle, ATV, and SxS racers. The track personnel really have the riders in mind when it comes to the course to make sure it flows properly, has minimal bottlenecks and plenty of passing opportunities.
This past weekend’s weather was slated
to be a drencher, and the weatherman didn’t
lie for once with heavy rain on Saturday for much
of the racing day, but with the UTV’s having
massive mud-terrain tires and excellent cooling
systems, the UTV racers made short work of the
track, even tackling the big spectator drainage
ditch jump near the holeshot area!

Kyle Chaney, 2014 GNCC Pro UTV Champion, made
his way out for the round three action. Chaney
mashed the throttle on his Yoshimura powered Can-Am
Maverick off the line and snagged the holeshot
ahead of Tim Marshall in his Arctic Cat Wildcat
who came off in second. Chaney seemed to be in
a class of his own as he rounded the first bend
after coming out of the woods section and into
the finish line area with a massive lead and looked
relatively clean considering the amount of mud
on the course. Chaney kept it rubber-side down
for the remaining six laps which he completed
in just over an hour’s time, seven minutes
ahead of second place, to take his second win
of the season

“My Can-Am Maverick ran great for the entire
seven laps, including starting up right on key
and getting me off to a great holeshot. The course
was very muddy with thick mud and big uphills,
but it was a super fun and very smooth flowing
course that was nice to race on. The big jump
near the spectator area was crazy. The first time
I hit it and nose dived, but the second time was
very smooth on the landing and was a blast! We
are excited for this season and had a bunch of
fun this weekend at MAXC,” said Chaney about
his win.
JRi Shocks / GPS Offroad’s Jerry Boling
is also going to be racing at every round this
season and is a large proponent of the MAXC series
with many years racing ATV’s and now UTV’s.
Boling came off the line in third place aboard
his Polaris RZR, but by the half-way point of
the race, he got around Marshall for second place
who was losing ground due to a mechanical issue.
Boling continued around the thickly mudded track
and remained mistake free for the rest of the
seven laps he completed.

“Kyle (Chaney) is a great racer and was
flying out there today. My favorite part about
racing these UTV’s is you can have a second
person with you which makes it a lot of fun and
kind of balances the car out. The race went good,
and we finished without any mistakes. We’re
really looking forward to the rest of the season
and bringing more UTV’s to the series,”
said Boling.
Dragon Fire / MAXXIS / FOX Shox’s Tim Marshall
made the trip up from Kentucky for the third round
to put his Arctic Cat Wildcat back to good use
for himself. Marshall took over second place out
of the holeshot and battled for this position
for much of the race. Over the large spectator
jump, Marshall took a hard nose-dive impact to
the front of the machine, but it didn’t
seem to be rattled much by the incident. However,
after only three laps, Marshall was forced to
retire from the race.
