Paragon, IN (11/5/2013) - The 2013 National AMA MAXC Racing Series came to an exciting end this past weekend in Paragon, Indiana. Marshall Goings would make a strong first appearance this season at the Cordell Creek MAXC to earn the win. Taylor Kiser & Kevin Cunningham would battle side by side down to the final turns before the finish to decide second and third.
The final round of the AMA MAXC Racing Series was held at an all-new location in Paragon, IN. This track offered a good mix of fast grass sections with many natural terrain jumps, tight woods, and several challenging hill climbs.
With inclement weather that plagued most of the Midwest on Halloween night, track officials were debating whether to cancel the race. With a couple days of decent weather between the sever storms Thursday night, a pristine track was awaiting the racers for one final round of the 2013 racing season.
Sixteen year-old Marshall Goings made his first appearance since 2012 to earn an impressive win at the Cordell Creek MAXC. Despite starting dead last off the line, Goings was able to take over the lead before the end of the first lap and began to put gap between him and the rest of the pro field. The Honda 450R ATV mounted racer was able to hold onto lead all eight laps to finish just over a minute and half ahead of second place!

“It was a fun track. The conditions were pretty good. There was some mud holes, hill climbs, technical sections, but there was also some field sections. It was all around a good track,” explained Marshall Goings

With Marshall Goings crossing the finish in first, it came down to the wire between 2013 AMA MAXC Pro Champion Taylor Kiser and Kevin Cunningham for second place.

Kevin Cunningham grabbed the early lead by taking the Pro Holeshot on his Cunningham Racing powered Honda 450R ATV. Cunningham would soon find himself challenged by the onslaught of pro talent battling to overtake the number one position. The Spider Graphix backed racer would fall back to fourth place on lap three, but would soon overtake third place on lap six.
It came down to the final two turns before the finish to make the pass on second place Taylor Kiser. After a drag race down a long straightaway, the two racers came into a ninety-degree turn. With both racers pushing as hard as they could, Cunningham was forced to take the inside line so that he didn’t take himself and Taylor Kiser out. Although Cunningham was able to make the pass to cross the finish physically in second, Cunningham was docked 30 seconds because he ran over the banners to avoid a collision with Kiser. Cunningham would round out the Pro ATV Podium in third.
