Canaan, IN (4/22/2012) –
The 2012 AMA MAXC ATV / UTV Racing series
kicked off this weekend in Canaan, IN. Ballance
Racing / Yamaha’s Walker Fowler and
Taylor Kiser went 1-2 in the AA Quad Class
with Houser Racing’s Ryan Lane rounding
out the podium in third.
The first round of the AMA Mid America Cross
Country Series was hosted at Circle W Ranch
and it's challenging course proved to be an
interesting race for both racers and fans
in attendance. The track consisted of many
creek crossings, wide-open field sections,
wooded areas, and a few long up hills.
Mother Nature would also play a role at Circle
W Ranch as temperatures stayed in the low
40s with light rain tough out the day, making
the track slick. With the cold weather and
many rocky creek crossing riders were battling
with both the weather and the terrain.

the first win of the 2012 MAXC ATV Racing
Series |
2011 GNCC XC2 Pro-Am Champion Walker Fowler
was able to endure the cold weather conditions
as he rode consistent throughout the race. Fowler
started mid pack and quickly made his way to
front with teammate Taylor Kiser. The two went
head to head throughout the race until they
came into the pits. Fowler then made the pass
on Kiser to take over the first place position
until checkered flag waved.
“I got a fourth place start and Taylor
(Kiser) started working his way up and I tucked
in behind him and was able to run consistent
good laps. When Taylor fueled there was a
three way battle for first and me and Taylor
were supposed to pit and leave together at
the same time so it would be clean racing,
but Ryan (Lane) was right there and if we
would of waited on each other we would have
been in trouble,” said Moto-Xperts’
Walker Fowler after he took the win in the
AA Quad Class at Circle W Ranch.

There
were several hills that proved to be
challenging for some ATV racers, but
not for Maxxis Tire's Walker Fowler
as he made easy work of the long up
hills |
“The MAXC Series is very organized and
stayed pretty much on time. There was a great
turnout and there was a good payout for the
fast guys. The MAXC also did a good job marking
the course and the course marshals were fast
with getting anyone that broke down,”
said Lonestar’s #5 Walker Fowler.
Walker Fowler’s Teammate and GNCC XC1
Pro Class racer #3 Taylor Kiser led the first
three laps on his Yamaha YFZ450R ATV. “The
track didn’t have a lot of passing and
I got a better start than Walker. I was able
to make some moves early to take the lead
and Walker was able to tuck in behind me,”
said Kiser. “ When we pitted Walker
was able to get by me and also put some time
between us with some of the lappers. I wasn’t
able to make up the distance before crossing
the finish line,” said FMF ‘s
